Uh, uh
The unexpected
Multi-dimensional
Unexpected sound of the Refugee All-Stars
Yeah

The sweetest thing I've ever known
Was like the kiss on a collarbone
The soft caress of happiness
The way you walk, your style of dress
I wish I didn't get so weak
Ooh baby, just to hear you speak
Makes me argue just to see
How much you're in love with me

See like a queen, a queen upon her throne
It was the sweet, sweet, sweetest thing I've known
It was the sweet, sweet, sweetest thing I've known

I get mad when you walk away (don't walk away from me, come on now)
So I tell you leave, when I mean stay
Warm as the sun dipped in black
Fingertips on the small of my back
More valuable than all I own
Like your precious, precious, precious, precious, precious, baby
Dark skin tone

It was the sweet, sweet, the sweetest thing I've known
Was the sweet the-

Ah
I tried to explain
(I can't explain it, I can't explain it)
Ah, but, baby, it's in vain, oh

Speaking on my mother's phone
The touching makes me think I'm grown (you ain't grown)
Sweet prince of the ghetto
Your kisses taste like amaretto
Intoxicating (intoxicating)
Oh, so intoxicating (intoxicating)
How sad, how sad that all things come to an end, huh

But then again, I'm, I'm not alone
It was the sweet, sweetest thing I've known
It was the sweet, the sweetest thing I've known

I sometimes watch you in your sleep
Ah
Excuse me if I get too deep
Hey
Was the sweet, sweetest thing I've known

I adore this song. There's so much passion in the words and in the sound. Lauryn Hill is a musical genius - I can't explain how much I love her. This song makes me want to buy a tub of ice cream and swing round my room dancing and singing along with Lauryn. Strange I know.

    Song Meaning

I can relate to this song in so many ways. My ex and I broke up a few months ago and I truly mean it when I say he was the sweetest thing I've ever known. It's about being intoxicated by love, all the ups and down of it. Also, how every little thing that they do (the kisses, the way they walk, fingertips on the small of my back), those are all the things that you really remember when you break up. Beautifully done song.

I adore this song first and foremost! In my opinion the feeling this song is trying to convey is one of complete adoration to a person. When you adore someone everything they do is perfect and you notice all there habits. This song has all the trappings of fresh young love.

At the end of the song it sounds like the relationship is in the past tense like it has ended but Lauryn Hill still reminisces of her "sweet prince of the ghetto".

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
