    It's a song about not buying into when a guy talks himself up and makes himself sound better then he is and brags about all of his materialism that somehow is supposed to be impressive. She would rather have a real life honest to goodness guy who knows how to truly love...

    My Interpretation
    "You've got the moves, but have you got the touch?" If I had to pick a particular line out of this song that concluded it appropriately, it would be this. Wealth and physical looks wear away after a while, so it's not worth your time if women felt they weren't getting genuine feelings out of a relationship. "I never knew a guy who kept a mirror in his pocket." What is off-putting about this is the fact that in order to get women to get attracted to him, he thinks more about himself. That is backwards logic, and just by reading some of the other lyrics, we can see it is perfectly clear that he is more interested in himself and things he owns. You'd think he'd pay more attention to you. "So you've got a car/you're Brad Pitt/you're a rocket scientist." Each of these lyrics are then followed by "That don't impress me much." The thinking here is perfect - just because you're a certain type of guy doesn't make you better than the rest. In conclusion, it is both a sense of understanding the transparency of showing off to women and to being able to take into account that not every woman can be fooled by something cool and flashy, or if you're some kind of celebrity.

    dang, how come no one commented on this song? I think this is a great song. it's talkin' about how the guy could be the hottest guy in the world, have the coolest car, and the hottest body, but it doesn't matter to the girl. all the girl want is love. she doesn't care about all that "material" stuff; she just wants to be held and cuddled in the middle of the night. Matt Shadows their lead singer says the song was written as per request from the developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Watching the initial trailers for the game & looking at production sketches reminded him of the 'S-Town' podcast & its main protagonist, John B. McLemore. Matt also comments specifically on the lyrics: "I decided that the lyrics would shadow McLemore's life." In 2012, antiquarian horologist John B. McLemore sent an email to the staff of the show 'This American Life' asking them to investigate an alleged murder in his hometown of Woodstock, Alabama, a place McLemore claimed to despise. After a year of exchanging emails & several months of conversation with McLemore, producer Brian Reed traveled to Woodstock to investigate. Reed investigated the crime & eventually found that no such murder took place, though he struck up a friendship with the depressed but colorful character of McLemore. He recorded conversations with McLemore & other people in Woodstock. McLemore killed himself by drinking potassium cyanide on June 22, 2015 while the podcast was still in production. In the narrative of the podcast, this occurs at the end of the second episode; subsequent episodes deal with the fallout from McLemore's death while exploring more of McLemore's life & character.
