Only A Broken Heart Lyrics
Back in the old days, before the hard times
But I'm not afraid anymore
It's only a broken heart
Out of the sunshine, down in a valley
But I'm not afraid anymore
It's only a broken heart
To clean up my mistakes
Wait for an answer, hold out forever
But don't be afraid anymore
It's only a broken heart
To clean up my mistakes
The end of the rainbow is always a long ride
But I'm not afraid anymore
It's only a broken heart

a song of loneliness. a broken heart belongs to one at a time. there is also ways to mend it... the secrets, sunshine, down in a valley. I am not afraid anymore. Could be fear from a past tragedy, a scar, or reminder. But this one is about mending a broken heart because dark times bring bright days. It's only a broken heart.

I dont think this meaning really needs to be explained, it's just so powerful, that feeling, of utter hopelessness, and its so familiar to him too, he says, oh, just go ahead, I've had it dont before, break my heart, I'm ready... beautiful

I don't think he's singing about hopelessness. . . I think he's saying that he knows there aren't any guarrantees that he won't get his heart broken again. . .and it's a long hard road. . .but he'd rather have the chance to put it on the line again. And that's scary because who the hell knows what will happen then. But who knows what's at the end of the rainbow either?

i think this song is about how his heart has been broken so many times, he always seems to do something wrong in a relationship "clean up my mistakes". he doesn't mean to, but something always goes wrong. he really loves the girl, but knows it's for the best that they break up because he made a mistake that will never make things the same again between them. he broke her heart by doing something wrong in their relationship and now it's his turn for her to break up with him, leaving him with another broken heart.

This song has two sides. One, that broken hearts hurt but that it's not the end of the world. Two, a kind of rueful take on the worst pain that there is in the world - a broken heart - is "only" a broken heart. This song makes me cry.

I think this song is a bit sarcastic. When the narrator says "It's only a broken heart", he is more hurt than he wants to admit. I've watched people act this way after relationships/marriages ended - pretending to have a super positive attitude, not letting anyone see them upset. But if you know them well enough, you suspect that they are hiding their sadness.
