Lonely Is The Night Lyrics
Your demons come to light and your mind is not your own
Lonely is the night when there's no one left to call
You feel the time is right--(say) the writin's on the wall
Call it what you like--It's time you got to win
Lonely, lonely, lonely--your spirit's sinkin' down
You find you're not the only stranger in this town
Headlines, deadlines jammin' your mind
You been stealin' shots from the side
Let your feelin's go for a ride
Get the dynamite...the boys are set to prowl
Lonely is the night when you hear the voices call
Are you ready for a fight--do you wanna take it all
Showtime, no time for changin' your mind
Streets are ringin', march to the sound
Let your secrets follow you down
Nobody's stoppin' you baby, from makin' it too
One glimpse'll show you now baby, what the music can do
One kiss'll show you now baby--it can happen to you
Midnight creepin's first on our minds
No more lazin' 'round the tv
You'll go crazy--come out with me

I kinda like this song. It has a good rythm and Billy has a good voice. I agree with god save theQueen, but i also think it's about how when you're lonely, you start looking for anything to do, even if you'll regret it later.

i think it's about life on the road, doing shows and one night stands, drugs, parties, and how u cant really have a relationship that way

No computers in the times this song was written folks!!!Watin on the line meant phone most likely although it might have been a drug reference...Billy ruled in the 70's and 80's!!
While that could be true, "waiting on line" in the seventies generally meant waiting in line for a movie, concert, etc... I'm not sure when or why the phrase changed from waiting "on line" to "in line", (probably had something to do with confusion of "online" as in the internet...), but, that's an other possible explanation. Sorry about the long post, by the way... xD

@crombiegirl00 Computers have been around since 1822 and the first modern computer was invented in 1943. The first "modern personal computer" (what we think of as a computer) was invented the same year this album was released: 1981.

I think this song is clearly about going out and partying instead of staying at home. I dont really see anything the suggests masturbation.

anyone who doesn't like billy squire is a COMMUNIST
@theodore9 Or into heavier shit like Ted Nugent haha he's anything BUT a commie!

whoa, flashback

squire kicks ass

great song, dont know what its about exactly. i think play_the_game has some good insights, about what lonely people can end up doing, esp at nighttime. only the first two verses could be about masturbation, but i doubt it.

Kick ass song. Lonely IS the night when you're on the road.

yeah... i'm pretty sure it's not about monkey-spanking... people just love to misinterpret squire's songs as being about that, don't ya? the stroke, this, in the dark... geez people, get your minds out of the gutters...
that said, i agree with god save theQueen as far as the ACTUAL meaning goes...
