I kinda like this song. It has a good rythm and Billy has a good voice. I agree with god save theQueen, but i also think it's about how when you're lonely, you start looking for anything to do, even if you'll regret it later.

While that could be true, "waiting on line" in the seventies generally meant waiting in line for a movie, concert, etc... I'm not sure when or why the phrase changed from waiting "on line" to "in line", (probably had something to do with confusion of "online" as in the internet...), but, that's an other possible explanation.
