It was strange glue that held us together
While we both came apart at the seams
She said your place or mine while we've still got the time
So I played along with her schemes
But I don't have the right to be with you tonight
So please leave me alone with no saviour in sight
I will sleep safe and sound with nobody around me

When faced with my demons, I clothe them and feed them
And I smile, yes I smile as they're taking me over
And if I can not sleep for the secrets I keep
It's the price I'm willing to meet
The end of the night never comes too quickly for me

But I don't have the right to be with you tonight
So please leave me alone with no saviour
I will sleep safe and sound with nobody around me

When faced with my demons
I clothe them and feed them
And I'll smile, yes I'll smile
As they're taking me over

And if I cannot sleep for the secrets I keep
It's the prize I'm willing to steal
Oh the end of the night never comes too quickly for me
And I smile . . .
The end of the night never comes too quickly for me
I smile, smile, I smile as they're taking me over
I smile
The end of the night never comes too quickly for me
Never comes too quickly for me

    My Interpretation

    Favourite lyrics, possibly ever.

"It was strange glue that held us together While we both came apart at the seams"

The glue could be a strange bond, the romance of self destruction in that they know they are bad for each other but stay connected anyway. Could also be sexual, with 'coming apart at the seams' orgasm and the strange glue bodily fluids (though perhaps less likely).

"She said your place or mine While we've still got the time So I played along with her schemes"

Not sure, maybe the suggesting time is running out and death is near? Playing along with schemes suggesting acceptance of personal weakness, knowing you are broken and should fix yourself but letting it all drift away instead.

"But I don't have the right to be with you tonight So please leave me alone with no saviour in sight I will sleep safe and sound with nobody around me"

Favourite lines, perhaps a reference to depression in the self-loathing, 'I don't deserve to be happy' type statements. The acceptance, and perhaps even longing for (self?) destruction. Then the oxymoron of sleeping alone and vulnerable, since this characters 'demons' seem to come from within herself - though the line could also be a reference to the fact that everyone hurts you in the end. As to any personal events which inspired this, I can only speculate.

"When faced with my demons I clothe them and feed them And I smile, yes I smile As they're taking me over"

About feeding her own demons, that spiral when you know you're on the way down but do nothing to stop it. She encourages her own negative thought patterns, creating the very demons which plague her. The 'yes I smile' is recognising that she has lost the basic human instinct to survive, which may shock many people.

"And if I cannot sleep for the secrets I keep It's the price I'm willing to meet The end of the night never comes too quickly for me"

Not giving something up, even though you know it will destroy you? And the final line about lying awake alone at night, being terrified and having no one to turn to. Day/night as a cycle, with everything going downhill from dawn onwards. Each dawn is both a victory, and a small death in the knowledge that night is once again drawing ever closer.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
