If I had my way
I would move to another lifetime
I'd quit my job
Ride the train through the misty nighttime
I'll be ready when my feet touch ground
Wherever I come down
And if the folks will have me
Then they'll have me

Any world that I'm welcome to
Is better than the one I come from

I can hear your words
When you speak of what you are and have seen
I can see your hand
Reaching out through a shining daydream
Where the days and nights are not the same
Captured happy in a picture frame
Honey I will be there
Yes I'll be there

Any world that I'm welcome to
Is better than the one I come from

I got this thing inside me
That's got to find a place to hide me
I only know I must obey
This feeling I can't explain away

I think I'll go to the park
Watch the children playing
Perhaps I'll find in my head
What my heart is saying
A vision of a child returning
A kingdom where the sky is burning
Honey I will be there
Yes I'll be there

Any world that I'm welcome to
Is better than the one I come from

    My Opinion

For me, the song is one for survivers of abuse of any kind. In mine it was child abuse.

If I had my way I would move to another lifetime I'd quit my job Ride the train through the misty night-time I'll be ready when my feet touch ground Wherever I come down And if the folks will have me Then they'll have me <---- The feeling of being the only one that has gone threw the events they had gone till they can find someone they can connect with someone with the same feelings/exsperences.

Any world that I'm welcome to Is better than the one I come from

I can hear your words When you speak of what you are and have seen I can see your hand Reaching out through a shining daydream Where the days and nights are not the same Captured happy in a picture frame Honey I will be there Yes I'll be there<----Hopeing to return to the place in time before the abuse took place, to go back ot the person that they once were. But seeing things threw diffrent eyes while being the age they were when the abuse happned and trying to move on.

I got this thing inside me That's got to find a place to hide me I only know I must obey This feeling I can't explain away <---Some people who have been abused have fears of places/sounds that can trigger flashbacks and the part inside of the part that died inside them tells the rest to run away from the person/place (in my case for exsample)

I think I'll go to the park Watch the children playing Perhaps I'll find in my head What my heart is saying A vision of a child returning A kingdom where the sky is burning Honey I will be there Yes I'll be there <_---Resultion for the time being, trying to cope and live something of a life and placeing the past as far behind you.

Don't mind the speeling becuse I am writing this threw tears

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
