General CommentFrom the 1980 album of the same name, the very appropriately titled "Keepin' The Summer Alive" for me marks the beginning of the Beach Boys comeback after being mired in a forgettable mess of strange music since the late 60's. This song and it's album aren't as polished as a listener might like, but it is a huge improvement for them as they resuscitate summer and what it means to be a Beach Boy.
This is a fun song, but it can border on being annoyingly repetitive. It was such a welcome change for the band (the album went to #75) and fans. Not a greatest hit, it's still fun, and I enjoy it because of what it symbolizes in keeping the summer alive as well as the Beach Boys.
