what the hell is y'alls deal? if you hate john mayer and DMB so much, then why are you wasting your time insulting all of us on here that do? obviously we're all going to disagree so youre wasting your breath..pretty petty. calling us "retarded" for liking a certain musician is pretty "retarded" in its own right. LiveUrLife, screw this guy, im with you. And NerdytheWall, do you even play the guitar? If you did, I think youd realize how difficult the tabs (if you play them the right way for dave, no cheating, kids) really are...the guy's amazing. Don't insult 2 guys who are out there on a daily basis playing and working hard at it..it's a lot easier to criticize than it is to actually DO something. hey FosterKid, I agree..damn good song to play..I'm a big fan of '83 and 3x5...my fingers are about to start bleeding dude |

SpecialK- damn, im jealous...i hear he's a trip...a good friend of mine claims that shes going to 'marry him', we'll see how well that goes. he sounds a lot like dave in his style, which is very cool. by the way, anybody see dave on letterman last night? great new song he just released...i definitely recommend it |

even though the 101st's roots were in airborne operations (normandy, WWII), jumping static lines out of DC-10s and gliders, they crossed over to air-assault operations during the vietnam war, using UH-1's (hueys). the 82nd Airborne retained their parachute status, still jumping out of C-130's today. the 101st gave up fixed wing for helocopter based air assault missions, rappeling out of helo's, which remains their primary mission. air assault school in at ft. campbell, the home of the 101st "screaming eagles". |

oh yeah, almost forgot...most likely something between a soldier and a nurse. "things we cannot change" seems to echo the draft and those who actually went to the war...this reminds me of something sort of like hemingway's "a farewell to arms", same basic scenario. |

actually, this song is about a love affair during the vietnam war. in a recent interview with dave, he said he was intrigued by the idea of love and war, and how lovers find ways to be together, even in the most extreme of circumstances. the lyrics back this up with "climb on 2 by 2 to be sure these days continue". to "climb on 2 by 2" was the motto of the 101st airborne division air assault troopers, who would climb into the hueys "2 by 2". if you listen closely, the rest of the song backs this up. all i have to say is, this makes me love this guy's music even more than i already do. |
