David Bowie – Changes Lyrics 8 years ago
I think it is about Bowie realizing that as time goes by he is going to change. We all are going to change as we live. It is a part of living, and due to our experiences. Every change is not always going to be traceable to a single moment either. It is a message to the young that now matters, but it will change so "hang on" and be aware of the world you are creating for the next generation, because you are going to be the older generation someday. The message to the older generation is, stop hanging on to yesterday because things are going to change, stop asking younger people to grow up, let them have their time, let them create change, because they will grow up and they will be influencing the world. So, let them create the world they want, not the polluted one they inherited from you. 1970's "Where's your shame? You've left us up to our necks in it" Change isn't easy, you have to follow paths that lead nowhere and learn from them. It isn't pretty either. I think that might be why most of the song doesn't rhyme, like a most pretty little songs do. Instead it is great social commentary, genius and addictive as hell to listen to.

@[lucasmagalhaes:8323] 5 years later but I will give it a shot. :) When he says "Trace time" It is in reference to the previous thought. "Time might change me, but I can't trace time" When we change over a time period, some changes we can say were caused by certain moments. Other changes we can not trace to a moment or certain time, They just occur.

David Bowie – Where Are We Now? Lyrics 8 years ago
@[xtian777:8322] I really like your interpretation...The Song of Norway t-shirt is about his first real love Hermione Farthingale. They broke up after she was in the movie Song of Norway. Nonetheless, the introspection ..etc. ..fits.

Nirvana – The Man Who Sold the World (David Bowie cover) Lyrics 10 years ago
Didn't have time to read all, here is my interpretation. I think mentally he is going down stairs, replaying his life and passes his younger more conscientious self (going upstairs because consciousness rises) He then remembers his old self who he was and when, before he became a star. He is surprised that this person he was, was there because he thought he sold it off musically, abandoned that part of him to die,and become a star. "I thought you died alone". Then his conscientious self reminds him, everything he did, he helped choose, including selling off that world. "he never Lost Control"
So he laughed and remembered fondly who he once was, but continued to sell and "kill" himself off on that journey, a million miles, for fame. He, They sold his world , his privacy etc for it.
