Lana Del Rey – Gods & Monsters Lyrics 9 years ago
But what did you get from posting this? A sense of accomplishment that you put someone out there, that you've never met, in their place? Sad.

I suppose some people can't understand the meaning of metaphors or just simply using an artistic approach to explain a situation other than using bubbly pop catchy phrases to get your point across. I think the entire song is a metaphor about living a dirty lifestyle. "I was an angel, living in the Garden of Evil." "Put your hands on my waist do it softly, me and God, we don't get along, so now I sing. No ones gonna take my soul away, I'm living like Jim Morrison." Yup, party rocker promiscuous lifestyle just about sums it up.
While I understand the general public isn't use to hearing words like "God's dead!" in songs, it doesn't mean this artist is worshiping Satan. I see it as a way of saying "Living a fucked up, care free life in a world where everyone is living like there is no such thing as sinning." But, "God's dead" just about sums it up too if you have the ability to open your mind and wrap your brain around the possibility that some songs or lyrics aren't going to be straight forward and to the point.

She doesn't say Harvey, she just kind of sigh's, "Oh, he's in the sky with diamonds and he's making me crazy". totally sounds like harvey though.

Lana Del Rey – Bel Air Lyrics 11 years ago
I'm not great at interpreting song lyrics, and I had no idea about this guns n roses affair, but I always get the idea she's talking about death in this song. More in the sense that her lover has died and is in heaven and she is ready to be with him. I get this message mainly from the beginning:
"Gargoyle's standing at the front of your gates, trying to tell me wait (until her time on earth is up" but I can't wait to see you. So I run like a child to heavens door. (ready for death) I don't want to be bad but I won't cheat you no more." (In some sense ending life early is considered unforgivable, but she can't live the life separated anymore)
Again in the chorus I feel like she is describing heaven with the lines:
"Roses, Bel Air, take me there, Palm trees in the light, I can see late at night"
and again, saying shes ready for death with
"Take me there, I've been waiting to meet you, Darling I'm waiting to greet you."
Finally, the ending...
"Don't be afraid of me, Don't be ashamed, walking away of my soft resurrection. "
I say she is implying they shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed of her when she is in heaven for "foolishly" ending a life early and walking away from her, when she did it for love.
"Idol of roses, iconic soul, I know your name. Lead me to war with your brilliant direction."
kind of iffy, but I still see it as show me the way so we can be together.
I could be 100% wrong, but that's the beauty of music!
