The Song is about World War II and the Americans vs the japanese- On a cold winter morning In the time before the light In flames of death's eternal reign We ride towards the fight- WWII for the Americans began in the winter and launched dozens of surprise attacks on japan in the following weeks. When the darkness is falling down And the times are tough or right The sand of evil laughter Falls around the world tonight- World War II included the whole world so evil laughter falls around it. Back then times were not like today's and the darkness is the journey to fight Fightin' hard, fightin' on for the steel Through the wastelands evermore The scattered souls will feel the hell Bodies wasted on the shores- Finally they made it to the shores and the fighting begins with the singer fighting in this battle and shots are flying all around. It's a wasteland of scattered and dead bodies in the hands of steel (Guns and Cannons and swords were made from iron not steel) On the blackest wings in hell's terrain We watch the lands become In fire and flame, now once again we know- Americans in the battle thought japan was hell because they kept coming with everything they got including black wings (airplanes) and hell's terrain (japan and surrounding islands) So now we're flying, we're free We're free before the thunderstorm Hunt towards the wilderness Our quest carries on Far beyond the sun down, far beyond the moonlight Deep inside our hearts and all our souls- On their way to the battle they are free one last time before they must give up their lives for their nation. The thunderstorm (Sound of guns, bombs, etc)is the battle they're heading to. The wilderness are all the mountain ranges and grasslands on the island before japan such as midway. They battle all day and all night with all they got. So far away we wait for the day For the lives all so wasted and gone We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days Through the fire and the flames we carry on- So far away means on the other side of the world in Japan. The pain of killing and people being slaughtered around you would not experience in a thousand day as you have in one night. And through the fire and the flames they keep fighting. |

I believe the song is about world war II. I believe this song is about a battle between either the americans and the germans or the americans and the japanese when the allies land on shore and everyone gets shot as soon as they walk on towards the beaches. And also how these battles affected the mind of the people fighting in them.
