Alice in Chains – Rotten Apple Lyrics 3 years ago
I think the song is about Heroin. That's why it's a Rotten Apple, almost like a biblical apple that seems to offer knowledge or some kind of higher truth but comes at a terrible cost. However, this apple is even worse that that it is a rotten apple. He also has to acknowledge how he has played his own part in this mess. Also by eating the apple (experiencing that high) it has tainted him. He lost his innocent, if he chooses to live then he has to live without that high. So now he's having to start life all over again but not really young or innocent but tainted by the rotten apple (heroin.) Song is amazing.

Snfu – Joni Mitchell Tapes Lyrics 10 years ago
Beautiful but sad, like many of Chi's songs. I love the lines:

just when he found what he liked
it was taken away
in his chevy he did perish
to 'a free man in paris'

My interpretation is that this song is about Chi Pig's determination to keep living and embrace life inspite of the fact that he was dealing with schizophrenia.

Guns N' Roses – Estranged Lyrics 11 years ago
Just broke up wiht my gf this week, and last week I bought tickets to see G n R live. Saw them play last night, heard this song, and I know exactly what its about.

Post-break up. How can I live without this wonderful thing in my life?

I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it thru, this time
Oh this time
Without you

When he says, I'll never find anyone to replace you, its a simple line, but it really exemplifies a break up. You're gone, and I'm going to have to find a way to live without you.

When Rose sings:
An now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
an you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for

Its about how when you're in a relationship. People can see that you're happy. They see the bounce in your step. They see that joy. And when you lose that person, you've lost that extra pizzazz, that extra joy. You don't talk so loud. You don't walk so proud. You're feet are back on the ground. The elation of love is gone, and now you have to deal with things for what they are.

Crash Test Dummies – Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't really think this song is about abuse but rather being an outsider. Even amongst the "freaks," there is a freak. I.e. Even the two kids are glad that they're not that religious kid. I guess it shows how tolerance can sommetimes merely be a thing of degrees.

Ramones – Poison Heart Lyrics 13 years ago
This is undeniably one of the very best of the Ramones, this is really the kind of punk rock song that only a more experienced band could pull off. From lyrics right on down to musicianship and singing.

I love this song a lot. I think its a lot about Dee Dee's life. When he's a child, he's been counted out. Forgotten. He's a drum beat behind. Locked in a dream, never let you go, is about how your parents can hold you too close, so that some days you can't breath. You don't have any personal space. And you're the one who has to go through all of this. You can't smile. You can't laugh. Its not anyone else. Its just you.

When he meets the homeless person, its about being the outsider, and the experience of being an outsider. And when you try and talk or empathize, its like all you can get is a homeless man that just kind of smiles. And it does shake you up. Its like you're like the homeless man, and yet even he's so far gone that even you can't reach him. Maybe you're even looking at a worse version of what you could be.

But through it all, when life does take its toll, we poets and artists ultimately do what comes naturally, we song the song of our lives, or a song about our lives. Because there's nothing else you really can do. And in spite of the confusion or interference or whatever, there is the expression that we create as artists, and that's what gives us hope and life. And in spite of all of the bullshit, we still embrace life, and in spite of being one step behind, and everything else, we still survive.

Pearl Jam – Corduroy Lyrics 13 years ago
This is a song about both his suprise, and dissatisfaction wiht the fame game. He's not about the money so he's trying take the "firmest path," and Mtv can't buy what he wants because its free, (aka his love of making music, he'd be doing it even if he wasn't rich or famous.)

Ramones – Daytime Dilemma (Dangers of Love) Lyrics 14 years ago
Thing song is indeed about a relationship that very quick turned destructive. But to me its about more than just that. Its about how you can live your life in a very regular and normal way, and at the end of the day, still find that things have turned against you. Whats even more ironic and possibly sadder, is that when things started out, they were fine! How could things have gone from that good to that bad? "What went wrong, she couldn't tell" Moreover, this has really hurt her, and she "... will never be the same again."

This song is also about one other thing. Its about how people can hurt each other in the name of love. You can say to someone I love you, and find that your love leads you to do hurtful, painful and ugly things to someone else. And perhaps whats worst or saddest of all, you can be from "a happy home" and never expect any of this to hit you or affect you. e.g. How could this happen to me? I'm a good person! I followed the rules!
