I think you have it right. She is talking about herself in reference to if you ain't got no money line. That why you see to flashback to 1994 when she didn't have money. The irony is a lot of stars spend all their money trying to look rich just for image sake. That is the rub. She not talking down to anyone but reminding herself of the consequences of having wealth and she may not always like it or understand it. The line "I got problems up to here I've got people in my ear telling me these crazy things that I don't want to know (fuck y'all)" tells the downside of wealth.
When you break down the lyrics, this is a really good song. |

@[amypow:1140] I agree with your comments. Well stated. I think if you were to did deeper it probably Lane realizing being a serious drug addict is his way of committing sucide too. Just at a slower pace yet the outcome is still the same. Very nice song yet sad. |

This song is about the life of addiction. In some ways it may be about suicide but not directly. Jerry wrote most all the lyrics to their songs to begin with. I guess why Alice is loved so much is their lyrics are very poignant with real sadness. In find it also amusing some times sense the lyrics are very overt jabs at Lane which by the way is the focus of the song.
Addiction effects everyone who is around it. This band had so much promise yet due to Lane's sickness he kept them grounded from touring most of the time. It is sad because instead of getting Lane the help he needed they made excuses for his behavior. Like Lane said the drugs worked at first and than they turned against him.
An addict's life becomes they way the song explains. Feelings of being very lonely, sad, and shame. Lane was committing suicide in his own way. And the lesson learned is don't follow this path. With that said Alice left us some great music and I happy that Jerry is able to go on tour and play their songs live. |

What an incredible song by Ryan Ross. The real backbone of Panic. Yes Brendon and Ross need each other. Listen to all their music and saw them play live last month in Dallas. Brendon can hire good musicians but you can't replace Ross and this is what missing with Panic. Ryan is so talented I just don't understand why he didn't do more side projects like Brandon Flowers and still get along with Panic?
The song - Ryan is telling us love conquers all. When you love someone it does not matter what you do as long as you love and are in love. When you are in love things are so magical yet the outcomes are not certain. That is the theme to the dangerous drug. Now you don't find that out until you are there.
The melody of this song is amazing. It captures the beauty of being in love and not really knowing where it is taking you yet you want to be there and are willing to go through with the journey.

You make some point but others are blurred. He is not speaking anything about being equitable. Hence, this isn't no miracle life. I think they lyrics are more about accepting things as they really are, good or bad. Perhaps this song is more about dealing with life and not being in the best position to do so. |

This is such a sad but beautiful song. It is obvious this song is heart written and not just a filled with meaningless lyrics. Someone who is in love with someone who is in love with someone else. How heartfelt and beautiful this song is. I think we have all been there. |

This song is quite simple to figure out. Love the song by the way. It's about a relationship where the guy (or girl) is trying to do the right thing yet he knows things will never work. Its about trying to do the right thing yet there is no good outcome. Perhaps you are being used for the sake of others and yet you try to help but eventually accept this is a battle you can not win. I think Mark is telling us he wants to do the right thing. At the same time he may be challenged beyond what he can actually do yet still wants to be a good man in storm. What a great song. |

This song is about a relationship where one comes to their senses and realizes they have been manipulated by an addict. All those sweet tender moments experienced were only a facade in order to get more drugs. After all addicts really only want one thing - more drugs. The lifestyle of a drug addict leads them to do things any sane person would never consider, e.g., prostitution, stealing.
No matter how hard you work you work with them to improve there life you can't. You have to accept you can't compete with drugs since they will always win out. I think this was what Brandon is telling us. I am on to your game and have accepted that I had a relationship with you but your relationship was only with drugs.
You can not take people to places they don't want to go or help those who don't want help. There is hurt and pain sense you tried and thought you could make difference in their life but you couldn't. The person you rescued from a sinking ship jumped out of the life boat. You than realize this was not your fault and there are plenty of people who really want and have meaningful relationships.
Life is meant to be good but no longer with you since I am rejoicing since I am now free from this albatross called addiction. |
