Toby Keith – Courtesy of the red, white, and blue (angry american) Lyrics 7 years ago
obviously, she was being satirical. And I, personally, thought it was pretty clever.

obviously she was being entirely sarcastic. She was speaking out about how ridiculous "scandor"'s post was. "Kill everyone who doesn't agree with me," essentially.
so I hope now you can see, having an asian best friend, how rude and terrible that statement would have been to someone from the middle east...or maybe someone who has a best friend from the middle east.

Fleet Foxes – He Doesn't Know Why Lyrics 8 years ago
I think, as in any good song, the listener relates the lyrics to his or her personal experiences. I've had a best friend from high school become a junkie and on the streets. I ran into him years later, and listening to this song, it's all I could think about. To "songyone," maybe you had an older brother with an addiction problem or what have you...and maybe not. Whatever the case, every once in a while, the public comes across an artist. Not a singer, not a guitarist, not a band-member...an artist. We've all felt the difference between good-to-okay music and music that was pure art. Music that reminds us that music IS, in fact, a form of art. For me, the Fleet Foxes have been the post year 2000 great artists of our time. Their music is timeless. And I hope that when we're all old geezers, we'll hear them on the oldies station and remember what it was like to be alive in Our Time :)

Rod Stewart – Maggie May Lyrics 9 years ago
There's a little bit of confusion about whether this song is about him losing his virginity, that is
incorrect, but not entirely. The song is losely based on the woman he lost his virginity to, not necessarily the actual act of losing it... xD

Rehab – Bartender Song Lyrics 9 years ago
i fucking hate this stupid song...it's not catchy, it's annoying and every dumb-ass sings along like it
perfectly describes their life, when none of them (probably including the artist) has every been in any
kind of situation like that

Counting Crows – Anna Begins Lyrics 9 years ago
I agree with derby411. I think Anna is already in a relationship...clues like "If you don't want to talk
about it, it isn't love" (she can't talk about it because it's an affair)and "If it's love," she said, "then we're going to have to think about the consequences."

I think he is in love with her and he knows she doesn't love him back ("It doesn't bother me to say
this isn't love......I guess I'm going to have to live with that)...but in the end, Anna "fades away"
and stays in her relationship instead of going with him.

Bob Dylan – Mr. Tambourine Man Lyrics 10 years ago
"Though you might hear laughing, spinning, swinging madly across the sun,
It's not aimed at anyone, it's just escaping on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facing.
And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind,
I wouldn't pay it any mind, it's just a shadow you're
Seein' that he's chasing."

I LOVE this verse...I don't even know why I just do...

David Bowie – Life on Mars? Lyrics 11 years ago
The song begins by telling the story of a young girl escaping an argument between her parents by going to the cinema, only to find the film a disappointment as she feels it echoes her life.

The chorus explains this further: the girl is being asked to focus on real world events such as violence in dance halls and police brutality.

The song’s second verse is made up entirely of social observations, with Bowie discussing the faults with American cultural imperialism and the state of Britain. Bowie then agrees that the film is a saddening bore and returns to the chorus.

It has been suggested that Bowie is singing from the point of view of the filmmaker in the second verse as there is a switch from a third person perspective to a first person.
