Acid Bath – Scream Of The Butterfly Lyrics 16 years ago
RabbitHowl definitely owned it. This song is NOT about abortion, but it IS about taking innocence from a child. The girl in the song is not Truddi Chase, as RabbitHowl suggested, but it is a girl who experienced the same abuse as Truddi. This girl was molested (probably by her father if you read the last lines of the song).

"She smiles like a child with blood on her hands" doesn't even make sense in reference to abortion. She was raped as a child, and reverts back to the abuse in her adult years. When he says "she feels it die" he is referring to her soul, not her baby.

"She runs through fields of daisies; yeah it's just a shame that they eat their own babies" is NOT saying she's eating her damn baby! She was permitted to frolic amongst the daisies as a child so long as she put up with the abuse. It is sarcasm, irony, which means he's NOT being literal.

AFI – My Michelle (Guns N Roses cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
I definitely think AFI's version has a better sound, then again the technology and mixing was much more advanced. Guns & Roses' version just sounds washed out. Jade is simply phenomenal though.

This song is totally about Davey coming out of the closet. I am not even kidding. He and Jade are in love and don't want to hide it anymore. Seriously... listen to the song with that in mind. It totally makes sense.

Also, the last line, "Just how much you" is changed from "Just how much this..." this means that Davey is blaming his homosexuality on Jade, saying Jade is hurting him. AND it sounds like "Just tie my shoe"

AFI – Cult Status Lyrics 17 years ago
It could be about drugs, but it could be about religion. He could be mocking those who follow blindly saying, "I could be your god, either way, 'you'll never feel the touch of my hand'". It could be about weak minded people in general, susceptible to both alcohol and religion, among other things.

AFI – Endlessly, She Said Lyrics 17 years ago
It's about Davey being hopelessly gay, not that I have a problem with it.
Seriously, re-listen with that in mind. It makes sense.

"Our world" is the straight world.
"Horrible sounds" is gayness and how he confessed his love to Davey

A lot of symbolism and what not, but it does work. He couldn't put "he said 'endlessly'" because he'd be labeled as a fag and no one would like him.

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 17 years ago
Davey is talking about how there's always a Great. In this song, it's the man that makes the heavens shake and with a look can break you heart. He used to be one of the commoners like us, but he has ascended to be one of the Greats. This man never wants his memory to be forgot, but, ironically, he forgot about us, his former friends. "Dreams of his crash, won't pass" says, though it's not entirely clear exactly how he died, he did die, likely from suicide. They, the masses, adored him still, and he was remembered. After that verse, "The stars that mystified, he left them all behind and how the children cry, he left them all behind" changes the meaning to be appropriate as after the death of a Great. The masses were saddened by their loss and will "always" remember him as a Great. Davey goes on to narrate "Your ray of light will fizzle out without hope" meaning the memory of the Great -- and of all -- will die. It's inevitable. He died in hopes of being remembered, but he won't be. He's ever searching for what he was promised. Davey then goes on to taunt the memory, the one that left him behind, saying "we're the empty set", he is comparing the Great and the commoner, saying they are the same. Why would such a Great ever let us put our filthy hands upon it? Why would any Great want us dirtying their reputation? their memory? He left us all behind, but in the end, we were all the same.
