Chuck Berry – You Never Can Tell Lyrics
|
Another fun Chuck Berry song with tons of meaning. Older people always think of the young as foolish, forgetting that they themselves were once thought of that way when they were young.
You can be young, in love, get by without a lot of money, and have fun doing it. That's a message for the ages. |

Chuck Berry – Memphis, Tennessee Lyrics

I would class the lyrics to this song as pure poetry, in that they say so much more than the actual words on the page. When you read them and actually think about the scenes they depict, the whole thing becomes a very touching human drama with very specific feelings and situations.
I would class this as the best of the best of Mr. Berry's music. In this case (as in some others) the killer guitar riff actually detracts from the very real message of the song. Its complexity really requires you to open your eyes if you're going to appreciate the song as a complete artistic work. |

Albertos Y Lost Trio Paranoias – Kill Lyrics

This song may have been intended as a parody of early punk groups like the Sex Pistols; but since all good punk rock is really self-parody anyway, this song really works as straight forward, veins in your teeth, punk rock.
In fact, IMHO this is the greatest punk song of all time, bare none - and if anyone tries to say different, I'll kick 'em in the nuts and run... |

A-Ha – Take On Me Lyrics

On the surface this song is about being from Norway and not knowing much English, but still wanting to have a hit record. It's secondary and deeper meaning involves the joy of having high cheek bones, moused up hair and a computer enhanced vocal range. |

Syd Barrett – Dark Globe Lyrics

Being in love is like having someone tatooed on your brain. To me it's a love song, probably to a specific girl. I've heard it said that its directed at Pink Floyd, but I doubt it.
I've listened to a lot of Syd lately. Were I might be able to listen to later Pink Floyd once every 10 years, I never seem to tire of Syd, no matter how many times I hear it. I can't believe no one mentioned Golden Hair.
About Syd - it is funny how our society thinks anyone who avoids wealth & fame must be insane. Wanting to live a quiet life in a quaint English town seems about as sane as it gets to me... |
