Yeah, how in the world could this song be about a dog? Just cause it mentions fleas...
Its definatly about a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship where the boyfriend wants to end it cause he feels he gives her whatever she wants....so now he's saying she can have whatever she wants cause he doesn't care.
I like all the descriptions. Obviously they're metaphorical. Cradling flies in your mouth must be very hard if it wasn't. A great scornful song. Yay for scornful songs! |

I can definatly relate to this song.....at a dance I made out with this one guy who I knew as a friend but didnt "like like" so afterwards it was weird and akward.....but the killer is that we had a good friendship before and then after he felt like there should be something more between us when there really wasnt......rather pathetic but thats how it was. Anyways good good song I love how mcs describes the little things that the two former friends had in common.....just little random things they liked. Its cute I love it. |

This is such a great song. I think songs about peace that arnt mushy, hysterical songs are better at getting the point across to people...this song has such creative lyrics that you can love it without feeling too "love, peace, and happiness"....you know, hippie ish.....basically, this song touches on the subject of singing as a metaphor for doing really anything in life that your afraid of doing because of others critisizing you for it....and also I do think its about war too....but i dont know where in the lyrics it might be, except for the children shooting children part.....probably my favorite dresden dolls song b/c when they actually do make a good effort at singing good, it comes out alright....hah. |

My mom used to sing this song to me when I was younger, so I agree with LMB228 about how it can be a universal song of affection rather than just for lovers. Its such a sweet song in the sense that its stated so simply, but so perfectly...the meaning is so clear, yet so profound: you don't find love, love finds you, and you have basically no choice but to accept it, whether it will end up being your death or or your life. Such a glorious song, I'm no huge Elvis fan, this is the only song I like by him, but still, its one of the best songs ever. |

LOVE THIS SONG...the meaning comes so clear to me, but yet its so hard to explain it...for me, it feels like its talking about all the things you imagined adult hood to be when you were young and all the things you hoped to be...but then you grew up and saw it wasnt like that. It just means getting back to what is important in your life and realizing what makes you happy, even if it takes time to go back years and years to get to the simplicity of things "when you were young"....

Well, this song has a great beat, but horribly unoriginal lyrics. They're trying to be like miss punk princess avril lavinge and I hate to say it, but Avrils lyrics are a bit better than this....its very slutty for being their first single...it seems to me they dont want a long career, they just want a one hit wonder,and their gonna get it by targeting our sex-obsessing pop culture community....I heard this song and was like "wow that has a really awesome beat" but when I got the song, and listened to the lyrics, I was rather disgusted...pathetic bubble gum pop trying to be passed off as true rock....they remind me of that one group that disney created....ali and aj, was it? Well, I'd just like to comment that this is my absolute favorite Beatles song ever! And I think no one can ever listen to this song and not reflect on their past! Its just one of those good ol remembering songs that whenever you hear it, you think of your life as a whole and how its been so far and where its going....I'm not that old, but whenever I hear this song, it makes me think of my childhood and how I thought when I was younger that it would last forever and now its gone....*tear* ok sad moment over.....
Also, I heard some where that Billie Joe from Green Day said that at his funeral, this was one of the songs he wanted to be played...I don't remember where I heard it, but I've always remembered it...this just increased my love for the song since I'm a hard core Green Day fan....

I agree with silentlistener...the instrumental part, "Funeral for a friend" is better than the lyrical part.....it just gives me the urge to stand up and do some wild air guitar whenever I hear it :-) but I think that "Love lies bleeding in my hand" is a great image, and Fuels "hemorrage" song is good too, even though everyone says they stole Bernies lyrics....
