I think the "Invasion's so succexy" line has to do with the fashionable elite and power mongery. You get the image of Bush and those like him at some sort of galla event, toasting to how successful and posh the whole war was and all the money they're making off of it. Who knows though. |

| To take a stab at it, I think this song is about a negligent husband. He clearly has a gambling problem and travels a lot but excuses it by saying it's "all for you", his wife and family. There seems to be some cynicism like maybe he really is doing what he wants instead of what he should, but passing it off as him being "misunderstood". Just a guess. | |

| I really appreciate David Bazan because he tells stories so well and conveys emotion perfectly in his songs. You really get the sense that a depressed, drunken, broken man is singing this song. And who knows, maybe it is. | |

Yeah the lyrics are kind of borked. The song speaks to the minorities who are subject to the whims of those in power, namely Mexico. it also talks about how the government in junction with corporations seek to dull our awareness and keep us sedated within the "American Dream". That's a brief overview of the songs meaning. |

I used to think this song was about Predator (the movie). If you look at the lyrics it can make a lot of sense: "My face you will not see." - the cool cloaking thing "decapitated bodies found, on my wall your head" - Predators collect skulls "on your trail I close the gap" - Predators are always chasing people "a flash of red upon your chest, safely out of reach" - the cool laser thing So after all that I checked the publishing dates on Reign In Blood and then Predator. It turns out Reign came out in 1986 and Predator in 1987. So unless Kerry King has a time machine or is telepathic it can't be about Predator. My vote goes to cannibalism. |
