I JUST FIGURED THIS SONG OUT. It's about a soldier who died in battle/service. Listen to the drumline, it's totally militant. Then all the references fall into place and it makes perfect sense: Once I wanted to be the greatest No wind or waterfall could stall me And then came the rush of the flood Stars of night turned deep to dust ^feeling invincible/strong, maybe in the navy and then gets killed at sea, the stars are getting smaller and smaller, turning to dust, he sinks deeper into the ocean. Then it mentions "armor" and "honor"... And then of course "secure the grounds" and "the later parade" could be the Memorial Day parade, or a reference to the "parade" of soldiers marching together as in the future soldiers who will suffer his same fate. |
