|Hate to tell you, hoss, but they're right.|
|Clutch – Ghost Lyrics||18 years ago|
The whole thing deals with the crucifiction of christ.
The first bit on the leather soles. That deals with everyone comes to church on Easter Sunday. Toasting the noble host who gave up the ghost is the eucharist in honor of Jesus.
The wooden coffer section. Passing the offering.
The creditor and debtor parts. Judas was given 30 silver coins for the betrayal and when he hanged himself, gave the money back. The synagogue leaders bought a field for graves that was before used for pottery clay. Potter's field.
The whole song is about the superficiality of supposed believers. No matter all this sacrifice, the sons of Cain and descendants of Adam and Eve are still burdened by life.

|Hüsker Dü – New Day Rising Lyrics||18 years ago|
|I find it very amusing the number of people that get upset and angry when someone posts a joking opinion like that.|
|Foo Fighters – Come Back Lyrics||18 years ago|
To me, this just signifies a time in life when something has to change. He knows he's got to leave and change for things to progress the way they need to. But, he's not losing everything; his promise is to come back and, better and stronger than ever.
At least, that's what it means to my uneducated ass.
|Foo Fighters – Low Lyrics||18 years ago|
|...well, the video is of Dave and Jack Black in various homoerotic redneck actions.|
|Probot – Shake Your Blood Lyrics||19 years ago|
|The Vandals – Allah! Lyrics||20 years ago|
Actually, it's a satirical song making fun of the majority of the Christian Right and ignorant in America. Evernone knows that Islam is a very peaceful and loving religion, and by writing a song upholding the stereotype of moslems, it's making fun of the ignorant who actually believe that....
Something along the lines of the satire written back in the 1800's by an English man saying that since the English hated the Irish and they had no use, they should kill the kids and use them for food. This isn't serious, and anyone who takes it that way should kind of step back and analyze themselves.
|Hüsker Dü – New Day Rising Lyrics||20 years ago|
Well, the live version has an extra line about "on and on it goes, it goes and goes and goes"
And yes, there are a multitude of ways for this to be interpreted.
|Black Sabbath – War Pigs Lyrics||20 years ago|
I think this song captures the true essence of war perfectly, as something that is inherently evil and a devolution to mankind.
Now, in relation to the war we're about to start now, let's look at some history. The following was said by Hermann Goering, a Luftwaffe commander and second in command of the Nazi Regime.
Of course, the people do not want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to the farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war . . . that is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dicatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."
Now, doesn't that sound a lot like what's happened over the past two years? But let's dig deeper.
Prior to the fascist takeover, a certain german consolidated power of chancellor, and president and became the dictator. Germany pulled out of the League of Nations, and then began to occupy Poland and Czechoslavakia (most notably, the Sudetenland).
Well, Ashcroft has pretty much taken over the Pentagon, the US effectively quit the UN and started war without a vote. And pretty soon, we're gonna occupy Iraq, Syria, Iran, and a host of other countries.
Then you can also look at the taking away of rights by the two Patriot Acts (one getting rid of probable cause, search and seizure by warrant only), and the reinstitution of the draft.
Sounds to me like the US is becoming a fascist country.
Oh, yeah, Ozzy is the shit.

This song is really titled "Thank You"
|Shades Apart – Sputnik Lyrics||20 years ago|
Man. I just found this group the other day, download the song, and realized that it hits really close to home.
Here's the deal: This guy is totally in love with this girl. They've either been casually dating or just friends, and one night, he wants to go see her. Yet, this other guy was with her. She'd found someone else, and was falling for the new guy. Kind of like having a big damn rock fly right out of the sky and hit you (or a satellite from space).
Yet, instead of being an ass like most guys, he simply stays by her side, being a good friend and a good guy.
I'd like to hope that after the flight in space, she comes back down to Earth for him.
But, that's wishful thinking...
|The Cure – Killing an Arab Lyrics||20 years ago|
It's an existentialist book. I highly suggest going to a library and reading it. At first, it seems like nothing more than a story, but read it a few times.
Anyway, you can't really discuss this song without knowing a little more about Camus than he was a french writer and philosopher. Read his works, and then listen to the song.
|Morris Day And The Time – Jungle Love Lyrics||20 years ago|
|Saves the Day – At Your Funeral Lyrics||20 years ago|
Holy crap...so many people saying, "Don't take our music away" and "Oh, you only like this one song" and stuff like that.
Grow the fuck up!
Who cares if they like them for only one song? There are plenty of bands I like because of only one song and that doesn't mean they suck.
And know what? They became a band so the could *gasp* play music for people. Wow. Who would have ever thought that a band would play music for more than two people? What a totally new concept.
To all you who like this band for At Your Funeral, keep on with good taste. To those who like the band for everything else, rock on. To all you assholes who have sticks up your asses because of it, go buy a dildo...they don't have splinters.
|System of a Down – Snowblind (Black Sabbath cover) Lyrics||20 years ago|
It's not always true that a song is better when done by the original artist. Point in case, Blue Monday by New Order. I love New Order, but the Orgy version was a hell of a lot better. Same for the Shades Apart punk version...much better than the original.
I happen to like System's cover of Black Sabbath better, though I happen to love Ozzy.
|At the Drive-In – Arcarsenal Lyrics||20 years ago|
|I kind of have this thing where I hate it when the name of a song is wrong. So, I just thought I'd put up the correct spelling of the song. It's one word.|
|Filter – Hey Man, Nice Shot Lyrics||20 years ago|
This song is, in fact, about Dwyer. He went into a bank, and having held the place "hostage" (for lack of a better term), he shot himself on live TV.
Richard was afraid at first that many people would think it was about Cobain, but he released the song anyway. If half of you would take time to read interviews with the writers and musicians, you might learn a thing or two and you wouldn't seem like such asses.
|AFI – A Winter's Tale Lyrics||20 years ago|
This song makes me think of solitude and looking for the one thing in life that will complete you. That it doesn't matter how beautiful something is, as long as you're still looking, everything is cold to you.
Of course, I tend to dream a bit...
|AFI – The Days Of The Phoenix Lyrics||20 years ago|
|Oh, come on, you silly ass. Just because a song reminds someone of an ex or something doesn't mean the band has sold out. "Yeah, that Total Chaos song makes me think of a girl I had, so that band must have sold out, even though they don't even know my name." They're a fuckin great band, with fuckin great music, and just leave it at that. Jesus...|
|Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics||20 years ago|
|Well, partially it's about the superficiality and plasticity of society, but it's also about their home. Anthony said in an interview that the song is about California, his home, in general, both the good and the bad parts of it. "Dreams of silver screen quotations"...that doesn't sound to much like fakeness to me.|
|AFI – Totalimmortal Lyrics||20 years ago|
|Personally, I thought The Offspring did a good job on it. Not the same, but a good job.|
|AFI – The Days Of The Phoenix Lyrics||20 years ago|
|There's some speculation that the song is about when AFI used to play at The Phoenix on the East Bay, San Francisco. They never were an East Coast band, but however, an East Bay, West Coast band. Get it straight.|
