His voice is so unique. I heard this song at the end of a Scrubs episode and just knew it was Citizen Cope. Great song. |

Doves – Black And White Town Lyrics

I sort of agree with gish05. It sounds like he is talking to somebody though. Seems like he recognizes that somebody else is bored ("colorless") and he's inviting him/her to go with him elsewhere... he's got the chance and now he's gotta act and take advantage of it. |

Regina Spektor – Us Lyrics
|
beautiful song. I love the whole concept of the world edifying love by making a statue. what the speaker and her significant other had was so awesome and profound that they immortalized it. It's also great that the love is contagious and catching. They're going to spread it throughout and get "blamed for it." Though the line with "den of thieves" makes it sound like the love is being stolen, i prefer not to think of it that way. Love can't be stolen. :) it grows and is spread to others. |

Jurassic 5 – Monkey Bars Lyrics

Wow. I've had this album for a while, but this morning was the first time I actually listened to this song carefully. What a gem! Much better than their other hit, "what's golden." |

Rufus Wainwright – The One You Love Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I love how Rufus is able to twine so many themes around love and all its aspects.
The coolest line by far in this "I'm only the one you love." How sarcastic is that? How could you say to a loved one, I'm only the one you love. Not anything important, or significant. just the one you love. Makes it sound like love isn't anything great. . Feeling underappreciated, insecure (especially when he asks am I only the one you love?), jealousy (want you to make love to me and only to me) and helpless (though empowered at the same time).. All things that are experienced eventually through love. Such a great song. My favorite from the CD too.
Best line musically on the whole album is when he goes, "OHHhh Jerusalem, Ohh jerusalem". hehe |

Tahiti 80 – Wallpaper for the Soul Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I think I read on the Tahiti 80 website that they named their 2nd album Wallpaper for the Soul because that's what they thought music was. It papers the soul and makes it colorful and different and unique.
haha, but I'm not quite sure how that exactly fits in with the music! O_o |

Tahiti 80 – 1,000 Times Lyrics
|
I really hope that when I am in love, this is how I will feel about my loved one... also hope that this is how he'll feel about me. No matter what, there will be no giving up, even if it takes another 1,000 times. :) |

Tahiti 80 – Heartbeat Lyrics

My favorite tahiti 80 song I think. (very close to 1,000 times). Meaning is self explanatory, I imagine. I love how he pronounces "enough", with the stress on the opposite syllable. :P |

Wilco – Jesus, Etc. Lyrics
|
wow. what great comments. I never realized that this song is so obviously about the wtc disasters. I always listened to this song and I was struck by how nobody ever tells Jesus not to cry, and how someone should be there for him too. Especially during his crucifixion. I'm not a religoius person at all, it's strange that's the one thing I always thought of. |

Badly Drawn Boy – File Me Away Lyrics
|
Haha. I disagree. I think the do do dos and the la la las are fun parts that just fit.. sometimes i regard the do dos as part of the music, and not even as a vocal line.
I like the 3 lines that he actually sings. Keep me in your heart, he says. how cute |

The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
..... ummm. please. give amanda more credit. I don't think this song is as literal as you make it out to be. i don't think it's about a dildo or a sextoy.. but more about domination over a guy, and not being emotionally controlled by one or reliant on one. it's about not being disappointed, and about not being hurt continually. |

haha what a quirky song. I love it! I really can't wait til her new album comes out. This song reminds me a bit of Regina Spektor. A good bit of you guys should like her too if you like Fiona.

Rufus Wainwright – Agnus Dei Lyrics

|
A very interesting song for Rufus to sing, given its implications. Why Catholicism of all things? especially something so sacred...
I think this is an interesting song to put on Want Two. I also love that it's on the same album with Gay Messiah and Old Whore's Diet. Vocals are so awesome. Really shows off what a great, expressive and effortless voice he has. |

Rufus Wainwright – One Man Guy (Loudon Wainwright III cover) Lyrics

I love this song more and more everytime I hear it. It's funny.. It took me a while to realize how great it was though. It's so.. not his other stuff. It's so simple and not over the top (Though I love that he is over the top). I agree with the others. His voice is so beautiful in this. Such a smooth texture in this song. |

Something Corporate – Me And The Moon Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
Favorite sone from North.
i think it's pretty obvious this song is about suicide. This woman, extremely unhappy with her marriage/relatinoship. All she got was a daughter after 17 years. She's all alone, just with the moon. If you read through the lyrics, it makes sense.
As for the butterfly analogy. I think in this song, it just represents that after she is dead, she has no worries, she is happiest. and along with happiness comes beauty. Alive, and entrapped in the cocoon of her marriage, she was unhappy, alone and miserable. She's released from that after she pulls the trigger. She's a butterfly. |

Rufus Wainwright – Vibrate Lyrics

One of the more simpler songs on this album. It's cute, endearing, and i'm sure the actual meaning is pretty clear. My favorite part of this song is the bass plucking that underlies pretty much the whole thing. Seems to go perfectly with the song. :) |

Rufus Wainwright – Go or Go Ahead Lyrics
|
Rufus' latest album is absolutely fantastic. This song is just one example of how wonderful it is.
I think this song ties up and exhibits all the aspects of heartache that can be associated with love. Uncertainty being hurt, and the one hurting your loved one, betrayal, regret, frustration. .. How is Rufus able to capture all of this in one six and a half minute song? |

The Shins – Saint Simon Lyrics

I feel as if this is a song about growing up. Growing up and being hardened. When you're little you're so able to lie to yourself or have others lie to you about the harsh nature of things. I think this song is about growing up, realizing things might suck, but then developing an air of apathy to deal with things.
The chorus: Definitely shows growing up, and the lines in the second verse about apathy and not giving in supports my last point, I think.
I'll try hard not to pretend
Allow myself no mock defense
step into the night |

The Postal Service – Such Great Heights Lyrics

The opening lines to this song are the greatest.
I was thinking it's a sign that the freckles
in our eyes are mirror images and when
we kiss they're perfectly aligned
Isn't that imagery great? How great is it, when you realize that the person you're holding in your arms is just perfect in his or her imperfections? That you just fit together and complement in so many ways. |

Jurassic 5 – What's Golden Lyrics

What a grooovy band. The chorus to this song is incredibly catchy.
I love Marc 7even's first stanze. Especially the bit with the participle.
"We tight like dreadlocks or red fox and ripple
We pass participles, and smash the artist in you "
How clever and unique is the inflection in the way he sings that? |

I feel like this song is one of the more cheerful songs on this album. Not that, the other songs are particularly meloncholy-- but the lyrics, and the emotion behind this one seems to me, to be particularly light and happy. |

I have no choice cause I won’t say goodbye anymore"
It's awesome. |
