wwhoaa.. okay everyone, on the count of three UNBUNCH YOUR PANTIES. isn't part of what makes music so touching being able to interpret in your own way? whatever you find the need to argue over, get over it. people see things differently. if you haven't learned to agree to disagree, you have a big obstacle ahead of you.
personally, i love this song. it's empowering and, though written before september 2001, it is in the wake of the tragedies reassuring. and unlike the past twenty posts, i think the message is UNIFYING. if people could just get over the little petty bullsh-t and stop tearing each other apart, just THINK of what we could accomplish. |

man, i love this song. apparently through my pre-school i was coded as 'mercury' (my name is meaghan) when the teachers talked about all the hell i raised. 'changing so suddenly'.. i just found that out a few weeks ago and i thought, how fitting. :) good AND bad, i fit adam's description to a tee. what's nice about it is, the idea that you can become so attached to someone else, you're almost consumed by the other person -- crazy or sane, he was enchanted by who she was.. it's give you some hope that someday someone might love your crazy ass too.

although the lyrics may be generic enough to be a 'lost love' song, AGE SIX RACER is without question about 'the rocking horse winner'. read it, get it, know it, love it. HOWEVER -- it is pretty damn cool to hear your hometown (LEXINGTON) at the end of a song by one of your favorite songwriters. |

... the reassurance in 'i would be there every time' fits so perfectly with how you would imagine the "character" writing the song to be. the ever single 'nice guy'. watching you run circles and circles around a**holes who will inevitably drop you like a wet sock. and chris just sighs out this 'I would be there EVERY time'.. perfect. makes girls like me kick my own ass all over town. |

i've been listening to john for nearly a year now, and i must say i have fallen in love with almost every song he's written at some point or another. "man on the side", right now is my favorite by far. the way his voice hints at a deeper sadness through cynicism (ahh, enough big words? sorry about that) is so touching. this is a song that i have yet to find anyone who cannot in some way relate to, and i plan to play it 'till the speakers melt. |

this was the first song i ever heard by dashboard. i listened to it right after my grandmother passed away, whom i was very close to. our birthday's were in the same month, and when i was tiny we used to have joint-birthdays with the family. she passed away over the summer and i sank into a sort of zombie-like numbness, and stayed like that for a good month. when i heard this song, it honestly made me cry. it's motivational in it's own way, and it resounded really clearly with me. my favorite part is 'live a life that you would think was sane'. which is completely true, because you realize that whoever you lost would never want you to mill around and be doubtful, and lament about every little thing you could have done differently. you have to go on, and make them proud. and i guess that's what im trying to do. |

i agree. it has this weird no-words-to-describe-it way to it. i'm a huge fiona fan.. and this song has grown on me more and more every time i listen to it. in a way, it almost becomes this twisted sad love song. at least, that's what i took from it. either way, it's utterly beautiful. |
