Brad Paisley – He Didn't Have To Be Lyrics

I love this song...Paisley is extraordinarily good at writing songs like this...songs that mean something more than "I love you, you love me, let's make love," or something of the sort. |

Kenny Chesney – The Road and the Radio Lyrics

I can relate to this song as a writer. Sometimes to get that "clarity and inspiration," I need to just get into my car and take a drive with some music on. And if I need a little caffeine jump once in a while, then so be it. But not red bull. Ick.
This song is exactly why I like Kenny Chesney. I used to hate country music, but listening to Kenny's music made me fall in love with country music. I couldn't ask for better music. Thanks to Kenny Chesney for giving me some music worth listening to. |

Brooks and Dunn – It's Getting Better All The Time Lyrics

I can really feel the emotion eminating from this song when I hear it. I've been through something similar, and I admit it is hard for me not to go crazy when I see him with someone else, looking happier than he looks when he is with me. It's heartbreaking. Anyway, great song, and great blend of voices with music. |

Brad Paisley – She's Everything Lyrics

I heard this on my car radio today. Instantly I knew it was a song I could play over and over, and always have the feeling that I am loved. A few of these verses sound like me. I've heard love songs, but this one is what true love is all about. I could play it a million times and I'll still be in a romantic mood every time I hear it. |

Tim McGraw – Don't Take The Girl Lyrics

I've had this song stuck in my head for the past few days...Incidentally I now know the lyrics by heart, and it only took about three listens. Anyway, this is definitely one of those nice country love songs that really puts me in a romantic mood. The lyrics are beautiful. It is one of my favorite Tim McGraw pieces. |

Kenny Chesney – Who You'd be Today Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I heard somewhere that Kenny wrote this song for his niece...but I don't know if that's true or not.
To me, this song is for my uncle. He died suddenly at age 36, and never got to do a lot of things with his life. He tried and tried, and I guess one day he just stopped trying. Anyway, when I hear this song, I think of all that he could have accomplished, who he could have loved. That's what this song means to me. |

Little Big Town – Bring It on Home Lyrics

The first time I heard this song, I was driving home from a meeting...I was all stressed out and stuff, and the minute I heard this song, I felt as if Jesus himself was telling me that he's right here, all the time. I tend to forget that sometimes, and this song is just a reminder every time I hear it that my Lord and Savior is right there with me, hurting with me, smiling with me, wiping my tears and keeping me safe when something bad happens. That's what this song means to me.
Oh, by the way, that first verse is totally messed up.
Someone that loves you more than life
right here
You've got willing arms that'll hold you tight
That's what it should be. |

When I was in high school, I heard this song for the first time while I was reading Macbeth, and sometimes I still feel like this song is perfect for Macbeth...it's weird I know. It is a great song though, regardless. |

Kenny Loggins – Danny's Song Lyrics

I think this is a nice love song...actually it's kinda poetic...
In reading the lyrics and listening to it as I type this, I can deduce that this is about a guy who is going to have a son...he's beginning his life after college it seems, starting his family with the woman he loves...
A very nice love song. |

Brooks and Dunn – Believe Lyrics

This song reminds me of an old man that used to live in the house next door where I grew up. He was the nicest guy, and my whole family was friends with him. One night he had a heart attack and died, and after that, well, let's just keep it at that. This song is more meaningful if you have your own Old Man Wrigley to relate it to. |

Kenny Chesney – Summertime Lyrics

I can see a lot of my summers in this song - playing baseball, drinking wine and listening to the radio, the Yoo-hoo bottle (I had an addiction in high school), wearing a bathing suit under my clothes to go swimming...the song is supposed to invoke old memories, and it does...nice job, Mr. Chesney. |

Brad Paisley – When I Get Where I'm Going Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
This, to me, is kind of a good poem, yet still abstract. I don't doubt the emotional impact of this song. I cry almost every time I hear it, because it renews the faith in me that God is going to take care of me when I leave this earth. I could almost say I relate to the grandfather verse, but I did not have a relationship with my grandfather before he died, unfortunately. This is definitely an emotional piece, and one of the best confrontational pieces I've seen so far. Experiencing the death of a loved one is a very psychological experience, and pieces like this one effectively confront the part of you that wants to hide all that fear, anger, depression, or what have you, inside. Poetry confronting death is some of the most emotional work I've written and read. |

Rascal Flatts – What Hurts The Most Lyrics

|
This is another song dealing with death. I've heard the song and seen the video, and this song is most definitely about the death of someone who ultimately could be the love of your life. There are many songs out there confronting death, and very few can confront it successfully. This song is more of an outburst of emotion, a confrontation of bottled up feelings...I've been there before, and I can feel the pain with each word. It hurts, and through writing people have confronted that hurt...and sometimes when you put it into song, it is beautiful. |

This is an awesome song. There's nothing like a nice car ride with the radio on to calm your nerves. It really is good therapy for your emotions. Music is a cure for whatever emotionally ails you - whether you're driving in a car or not. |

Kenny Chesney – Old Blue Chair Lyrics
|
This is a great poetic song about something that is a part of Kenny's life - an old blue chair in the sand, somewhere in the carribbean (or wherever). This chair is like his second home...everyone has a place where they can go, a place of inspiration, a place to get drunk, or just be alone. For him, that chair is his place. It is where he sees the world in its greatest majesty. I also like nature/outdoors...and I find places to go wherever I am at the moment to be alone...but nothing cmpares to the way you see the world from your special place. For Kenny Chesney, it's that old blue chair in the sand, and that's good enough for him. |

Kenny Chesney – Bein' Drunk Is A Lot Like Loving You Lyrics

This song means a lot to someone who's tried to love someone, but ended up hurting like hell when it was all over. Like getting drunk, the hangover hurts like hell. To me this song is like having a tough time in a relationship...knowing that it hurts just as much the morning after getting wasted as it does to let that person go. |

Faith Hill – Like We Never Loved At All Lyrics

This song reminds me of a guy I once "dated". We decided to stop our physical relationship, and although we are still pretty good friends, he still acts like nothing ever happened, or at least doesn't want to think about what happened, like it was the most horrible thing ever. Anyway, gorgeous song. |

*NSYNC – Up Against The Wall Lyrics

I'm going to take one more educated (emphasis on the word educated) stab at commenting. I made a post here 3 years ago that said that justin and jc know how to write. That may be true, but as tooty frooty said, this song is not very poetic. It is, however, a cool song to dance to. When I wrote that other comment, it was before I knew what good writing looked like. It takes a lot to write a good poem, lots of hard work and thought went into this. I'm sure JC and Justin can write better, more thoughtful stuff than this, and I'm sure they have (with the excepting of their solo efforts). |

Lifehouse – You And Me Lyrics

I really like this song...I don't know why actually. Sometimes I just like a song, for no particular reason. Lifehouse is a goodband, and they have some good vibes going on too. This song was used in an episode of Smallville in a scene between Lana and Clark in Clark's barn. Anyway, I think the lyrics are off...did anyone else notice that too? I could be wrong. I guess it's the way people hear it...like reading a poem or novel...different people interpret it different ways... |

I like this song a lot...it's good to be proud of where you came from. I wish I could say the same about the city I grew up in...I mean I liked being raised in the city I guess, but politically this city needs all the help it can get. So anyway, the song, right on. Keep on rockin. |

Chely Wright – Bumper Of My SUV Lyrics
|
This song is awesome...poetically as well as emotionally. It's one thing to write a song that can get one's emotions going, but it's another for the words to actually mean something, to be personal...not many people can relate to some of the stuff she wrote in this song...I know I can't. That's why it's such a good song. It's not cliche. Cliche is bad writing. And it sounds horrible when it's overdone. She can get away with a cliche or two in this song, but otherwise it's great. |

LeAnn Rimes – Probably Wouldn't Be This Way Lyrics

I just really listened to this song this morning. Before, I just kind of used this song for background noise. But this morning I heard it, and I thought of a guy I had a relationship with a while back. I thought about the first time I saw him, all those good times we shared, and then I thought about the relationship we have now. We're just friends. Nothing more. And it's cool that we're friends. I love him and I love being friends with him, even if we're not lovers anymore. But this song still reminded me of the hurt when he stopped our relationship. I still think about it sometimes. This is what the song means to me, and I know the song is about a dead husband, but this guy is the closest thing to real love I've ever had. |
