A song so beautiful the thought of it makes you want to cry. It's an amazing testimony to the impact others can have on someone's life. For someone's entire being to cease at the depature of someone close to them is a powerful statement. And it goes for any any loved ones: family, friends, significant other. Sometimes you feel so lost without them, that you feel that any movement you make will end your life. And that is when you cry out to them to just be there with you. This is why this is such a beautiful song. The fact that Dido can sing her face off doesn't hurt either. |

God, there's so much to say about this song. It definetly ranks in the top ten of the most beautiful songs ever written. One thing that I love so much about it, that many haven't commented on, is it's simplicity. A few string instruments, piano, and very simple lyrics. It's hard to decide which part carries the most emotional weight, but I know that everytime I hear someone play just the piano part, I get teary. And I will be shallow and add that this is the world's best sex song. If you ever need to top off a romantic evening, throw this song into the mix.
It took me a very long time to decide what this song means. And I think I agree with most everyone else that it's all about revealing your true self. So many of us try to hide who we are and what we're really about to the public that sometimes we need to be 'pulled out from the inside'. When I was coming out to those closest to me, this song helped me to see that sometimes life is better once you let down the barriers and look at yourself and life for what it truly is. Only then can you truly live. Love this song! |

A lot of people don't know this, but the video for this song was shot the day after Patti's sister died. So if you've ever seen it, Patti does a lot of crying in it. And there's a story behind it that makes it even more depressing than it is already. But it is a beautiful song. |
