Beck – Get Real Paid Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Nice analysis! |
Mos Def – Pistola Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Is this official lyrics? "Don't read or write just say good bye" It's at least "just say goodbye..." Agreed: fantastic song. |
Eliza Doolittle – Rollerblades Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Surprised nobody has commented! It was a free iTunes song at some point, and it's a pretty cute and fun tune. I thought it was "you're singing with a broken string," or even "you see me with a broken string." Apparently I didn't listen closely enough, or made up my own meaning... How I see it: The singer is has been with this person before, and doesn't trust they can change, especially since their words and actions are in conflict. The train is the singer... do I sense a little innuendo with the phrase "get off" ? It seems the singer ends up deciding "let's try it out again." However, the line "before you shout at me" sure seems like they will continue to have more badness up ahead. The singer gets back with the person, but the future is very much up in the air... and the singer doesn't seem convinced that this is the best person for them. |
Jack Johnson – Situations Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Situation #3 Does he say "it's the one that no one sees" or "it's the one that no one seizes" ? Sure sounds like seizes to me... |
Chromeo – Hot Mess Lyrics | 13 years ago |
So nobody has commented on what they're talking about... seems that the guy likes the girl, treats her well, and is confused by his own feelings of loneliness (the repeated "What?"). Is this just about a fickle dude who is looking for something different? He doesn't talk about why he is less interested in the girl... in fact, quite the opposite, he has real love from the girl, he would have done anything for her. |
Mos Def – Casa Bey Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Amazing end to this excellent album. It really closes the album on a note that builds to some ecstatic moments. |
Chromeo – Bonafied Lovin' Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sounds like he's an older guy sweet talking a much younger sweet thang... |
Janelle Monáe – Cold War Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"I was made to believe there's something wrong with me" This theme runs through the album - that she is strange, that she was doing something wrong, and she's trying to reconcile why that's not such a bad thing. In the context of the album it's that she is a robot who likes a human... what is it in real life? The quality of this album speaks to her having some type of drama in real-life... anyone have any ideas? I imagine it was some relationship with someone who her family/friends did not approve. Saying she's a robot implies she was acting without thinking, that it was a programmed response she was having to this person. She also touches on race issues. Could she be in love with a guy who's not of the correct race? It doesn't seem quite like that... |
Chromeo – Night By Night Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Great groove, that in many ways match the lyrics... He's saying don't worry about all the little details right now and even the unknown future, but instead, in the meantime, let's just have fun and concentrate on the positive times we can have every night. Is it sinister? Is he just trying to get some booty while she's trying to figure out the future? Not sure... the video is fun, and shows a bunch of women who are willing to pay (like at a strip club perhaps?) just to have some fun time dancing with a guy who has some moves. The thrill for the women in the video sure seems to imply a link to gentlemen's clubs. |
The Presidents of the United States of America – L.I.P. Lyrics | 14 years ago |
So the singer has fallen for a girl from India who is working at a burger joint. He sounds pretty happy to get that big ice-cream cone at the end. |
Diane Birch – Nothing But a Miracle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Only one comment?! This song is great, and she is one talented artist! |
Jamie Foxx – Blame It Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Doesn't T-Pain mention "We can go and kick it like judo (Juno)" ? |
Kermit the Frog – Rainbow Connection Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Does he make religious allusions in this song? "Who said that every wish would be heard and answered When wished on the morning star? Somebody thought of that and someone believed it Look what it's done so far " |
Howard Tate – Get It While You Can Lyrics | 14 years ago |
No comment on this? The story of Howard Tate's comeback is very nice, and his voice is heartbreaking in this one. His performance on Letterman was really powerful. |
Bob Sinclair – World, Hold On Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Instead of wonder... it should be "one day" Great song, surprised there hasn't been more discussion! Great positivity, and makes you move your butt. |
Robert Johnson – Traveling Riverside Blues Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"She's got a mortgage on my body, Lord / and a lien on my soul" Nice. |
Weird Al Yankovic – Everything You Know Is Wrong Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song makes me happy |
Funkadelic – Red Hot Mama Lyrics | 14 years ago |
There is a CRAZY live version of it that I have tagged as from the album "Live 1976-93, CD 1." UGH so good, the guitars are on rapid fire in that take. |
Funkadelic – Cholly (Funk Gettin' Ready To Roll) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
There is, of course, a song by Fishbone named Cholly, talking about Cholly with the thick thighs. |
Parliament – Do That Stuff Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Fun song. Sounds like they say pill rather than thrill... has this been checked? Man I am the funk lyrics police... |
The Lonely Island – Sax Man Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Jack Black nails it My favorite song the first time through the album |
The Lonely Island – Santana DVX Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay, who has drank this wonderful beverage? |
Madonna – 4 Minutes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Why did the video make you want to puke? The cutaway of the two people kissing? That is pretty darn disturbing and strange. Overall a fun video though, except for that shudder-inducing image. Madonna look great for her age... and great in general! |
Wesley Willis – Suck My Dog's Dick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
user_lain, something = klipspringer's |
Crash Test Dummies – Superman's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song, absolutely wonderful. I've thought about what an interesting story could be made from the ideas in this song - a movie or a short story. I think something would definitely be lost though. This song moves me. |
Crash Test Dummies – God Shuffled His Feet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this band, both back when I first heard them, and maybe even more now, many years later. I love the lead singer's voice - it's got a wonderful timbre, very easy to hear. And I agree on how they use God as a character - one of the only songs, or maybe even poems, to do this. I want to know more about the blue hair boy story... I think it is a very subtle joke, but I'm not sure why. It seems just... almost too ludicrous to have a deep meaning, but who knows. |
Beck – Hell Yes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I dig this because of the funk aspect. The 8-bit variation on the iTunes store is great, and the original is actually funkier. |
Beck – Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What is he saying in between "my" and "girl"? It sounds like... summer. Or sunblock. Or sun nar girl. What is he saying? |
Wesley Willis – Al Capone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Am I supposed to believe this is genuine Wesley Willis fare without a Rock over London, rock on Chicago at the end? Wesley Willis®: Only Accept the Original. |
Wesley Willis – I Whipped Batman's Ass Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Did you know Batman was actually played by this guy on TV? Maybe Wesley Willis doesn't like him... or Val Kilmer. Or even George Clooney. But everyone I know loved O Brother Where Art Thou. |
Wesley Willis – Dave Grohl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I'm gonna have to go with HHealy on this one... I think they're singing about Dave Grohl, lead singer for the Foo Fighters. I don't know if this was before he got a lot of facial hair and long hair or not. I assume it's before. |
Sly And The Family Stone – Family Affair Lyrics | 22 years ago |
The last stanza of this song has personal meaning to me... heck, I bet it's one of the most identifiable lines in any song, ever. I bet everyone has felt this way at least once, if not a lot more, in their life. I hope my decision was the right one - no, I know it is! That's what I say! |
Marvin Gaye – What's Going On Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Hooray for the original, wonderful, beautiful song. Thanks, Marvin, wherever you may be right now. |
Sly And The Family Stone – Everyday People Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Thanks, I'll try to make the correction. Bringing up the lyrics correction page is painfully slow in my browser. I'm submitting some of these lyrics just so they get in the database - Sly wasn't even in the database before this song! |
Sly And The Family Stone – Dance to the Music Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Pure bliss. What a happy song. |
Parliament – Handcuffs Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Someone needs to proof read this song - I'm really unsure about a couple of the lyrics, mostly at the places where I put the question marks in parentheses. |
Otis Redding – (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I love this song, it makes me smile too. This and "Up on the roof" are two older songs that never fail to bring a smile to my face... though they're quite different. Ah... I wish I had a dock... but if I did, I'd need to learn how to swim, too! |
Otis Redding – Under The Boardwalk Lyrics | 22 years ago |
What a happy song. |
Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Okay, since this is songMeanings, I need to ask: what the heck is this song about? I'm trying to figure it out, but coming out incredibly short... nothing seems to be related to much of anything else. Pretty damn groovy anyway, tho :) |
The Dandy Warhols – Bohemian Like You Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Just a little bit more than inspired by the Rolling Stones, don'tcha think? From the whoo-hoo-ooos to the guitar riff, it all seems like the Stones... which is definitely not a bad thing! Rock over London, rock on Chicago! |
