This song has always struck me as one about being hung up on a past relationship. When he says its "on with the jeans, the jacket and the shirt" its almost as if he's just going through the motions, not really thinking about anything. I looked at that part as him going out, trying to find someone new, but always "holding you close in the back of my mind". |

This was one of those songs that, when I listened to it the first time, I though was a great song, but nothing spectacular. I had to meet a girl to really realize how beautiful this song is, cause once I met her it was like these guys had read my mind and turned it into a song. It just so perfectly described how I was feeling both prior to when we started dating and then when we started dating. Before we dated, I knew she liked me, but she just "wouldn't call my name out loud" even though I knew she could be all these wonderful things for me. I knew that as soon as she said something I'd come running. Then after we started dating it always seemed like she'd never acknowledge me in public, like I was some big secret. I just wanted her to "let our eyes meet" or to "call my name out loud." And I still love her so much that even if "I were gone from the land we know" I'd still come running for her. But perhaps my favorite part about this song is that after I explained to her why I relate to this song so much she always made sure that whenever we listened to it she looked me in the eyes when it got to the "let our eyes meet" part. |

I love and hate this song. I love it because its just a beautiful song and I'd like to think I'd say "I'll Be" to a girl some day. I hate it because it always reminds me of my ex-girlfriend and thats just something I could do without right now. Too many painful memories go along witht that. |

At the time I didn't think anyone really understood me, and I still think that no one does. Anyway, after I told her that she'd cry everytime she heard it. Anyway, thats my sob story for the day. |

I have yet to find a girl who doesn't want to melt when they hear this song. This is a definitely a good song to score some points with the ladies. Still waiting for the time where I can sing this to someone. Its so sappy it almost hurts, but damned if it doesn't describe how I feel about a girl. |

I used to use this as an away message every Friday night. This was the song that first got me hooked on John Mayer. I still like the live version the best, especially because of what John says in the beginning. " This is a song about talking to the person you haven't even met yet. Mayber they're rolling around in the hay with someone else but they're not as good as you'll be. You just gotta wait your turn. He's out there, she's out there, they're just learning what to contrast you against." Amen to that John, amen to that. |

Gee, another John Mayer song I can relate to. I use the lyrics of this song a lot when I get angry at this girl I know for blowing me off all the time. It usually works to get my message across to her. My favorite part of this song has definitely got to be the verse that starts off "I feel in love with the dream that I built of you..." That describes how I've been feeling lately to a T. Anyway, just another great song from the man himself, John Mayer. |

This is one of the greatest songs I've heard. The gist of the song is pretty obvious, and its definitely something I can relate to. One thing this song always reminds of is that just because something is perfect doesn't mean it will last forever. But thats just my opinion, I could be wrong. |
