Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The line is: "No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold." Not: "No comfort heirs defy the night but light the face of holes" ;P |
Gary Jules – Mad World (Tears for Fears cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Donnie Darko is my favourite film, one of the best films ever - and I think the soundtrack sets the mood so well. |
Eminem – Without Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This page needs cleaning up. |
Led Zeppelin – Whole Lotta Love Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I can't listen to this song because over the years I heard it too much on TOTP :( |
The Stranglers – Golden Brown Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I was told to get this song by a friend, and I can't remember it being in Snatch, (Even though i'm constantly told it!) its a good song, and its most probably about Heroin .... Or taking a really nice relaxing poo. |
Led Zeppelin – D'yer Mak'er Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"Every breath I take oh oh oh oh oh Every move I make oh oh oh oh oh" Was this song written before or after "I'll be missing you" I wonder ? ;D |
Led Zeppelin – The Lemon Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"Squeeze me baby, till the juice runs down my leg. (X2) The way you squeeze my lemon, I'm gonna fall right out of bed." The above speaks for itself! "I'm gonna leave my children down on this killing floor." And I think here Plant might be talking about shooting his future-children onto the floor once he's fallen out of bed. ;P pretty lude analysis, pretty nice song. |
The Knack – My Sharona Lyrics | 21 years ago |
A really summery happy kinda song, and reminds me of a very sexy younger girl ;D |
Rage Against the Machine – Freedom Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Best progressive Rage song probably, I just love the breakdown to the quiet solo. |
Rage Against the Machine – Wake Up Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Kashmir + Zach's rapping + Tom's mad effects. |
Rage Against the Machine – Street Fighting Man (The Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think this is a cover of a Rolling Stone's song. |
Rancid – Maxwell Murder Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Les Claypool is the guy from Primus, he's very good. The bassline and solo are both amazing in this song, a friend told me to get it, i'm not much of a punk fan but I listen to this a lot just for the solo! |
Cream – White Room Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I'm not sure that's entirely true scooter44. I heard this song was about coke, but it may well be about something else. |
Cream – Sunshine Of Your Love Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I can't believe i'm the first person to comment on this rock classic! I think its basicly a love song with fairly simple love song kinda lyrics of course accompanied by an amazing riff and a pretty good solo. |
Led Zeppelin – The Ocean Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Pantera - I'm broken's riff was taken from this song and elaborated. |
Led Zeppelin – Tangerine Lyrics | 21 years ago |
One of Zeppelin's best I reckon. |
Sade – Smooth Operator Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Its about a big pimp daddio. |
Stormtroopers Of Death – Free Dirty Needles Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Pretty cynical song - Quite self explanatory. |
Ted Nugent – Stranglehold Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Pretty good song :) |
Metallica – Master of Puppets Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think which drug the song is about is immaterial, its basicly just describing the enslaving element of taking hardcore drugs like coke / H. |
Metallica – Carpe Diem Baby Lyrics | 21 years ago |
One of my favourite metallica songs because of its simple yet fundamental meanings. PS - the lyrics are very messed up. |
Metallica – The Unforgiven II Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Both are good songs, and when played back to back they make a great progressive rock piece. I agree with this being a sequel, and on that theme it reminds me of 1984 by George Orwell, in so far as Winston and Julia meet eachother in the wartorn conformist society and try to break away from it together with their love. So those 2 characters remind me of the 2 characters in this song. |
Metallica – Nothing Else Matters Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Beautiful song, to me it sounds like a group of maybe outcast people who appreciate life in their own way and don't care what others think. |
Tool – Reflection Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Beautiful song, I don't have much to add on top of the above comments. |
Tool – Sweat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I agree with MountainJew. And The_Grudge54, Maynard has been known to write things such as "Thinking of you" for A Perfect Cirle, which is pretty much about masturbating when seperated from your love. |
Queen – Don't Stop Me Now Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The song doesn't need any real explaining - it just rocks. |
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is one of 'THE' songs, one of the best songs ever written, and a true rock anthem! Progressive rock is the best :D pkjun's analogy was the best i've read here too, so even if the song was written purely as a musical piece with no real meaning, i'll attatch that idea to it in future and the story will be even more vivid. |
Led Zeppelin – No Quarter Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Tool's cover is very very good. I think I may actually prefer it. Obviously I put most of the credit led zep's way for writing such a great song, but Tool set a better mood for it I think. |
Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Just to elaborate on the LOTR idea... "The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know." This line is about Aragorn returning, which noone knew would happen. "Oh, well, the night is long the beads of time pass slow," I think this also refers to the slow return of the king. "Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before." Reference to Legolas. "No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold." Reference to Gimli ... maybe :) "The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back. Bring it back." I'd say this is about the ring coming back to Mordor. |
Tool – Undertow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
For a long time i'd only heard the live version of this until I bought the album and heard the studio version ---- the distortions of maynard's voice and the relating lyrics always remind me of someone drowning and scoffing under an endless sea of black silt. Chilling - excellent song. |
In Flames – Ordinary Story Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think it touches on compulsive egoism and urge to fit in etc. talking about how people are governed by fashion - the epoch of indifference, and it also touches on the people in power being too greedy and corrupt. |
The Rolling Stones – Mother's Little Helper Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yeah, drugs, prozac maybe ... or that might not have been around then... |
Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The video relates very very closely to the song. Most of it has been covered by posts above this, but i'll just add something: The setting for the video is like, a room of drawers, and at the end, you notice that the "abuser", guy in black, keeps the doll in the room of drawers, and the black guy lives in a room of drawers, and so on and so on to infinitum. Thus showing the, Abused become the abuser in the continuous pattern. Also, i don't understand the Brown Clay man, the Caterpillar, or the spinning baby :/ |
Tool – Parabola Lyrics | 21 years ago |
to me this song tells me to look deeper than the skin, and just generally be greatful for what, and who I am no matter about my flaws. It sends a message saying that our bodies are just vehicles in which our minds/spritis travel, and our minds/spirits are the real person in side us, not the clothes we wear or the good/bad looks we have. "All this pain is an illusion" i'd say that's one of the most important lines in the song, this is a great thing to think about, because if it's not our beliefs, or souls being damged, merely a scraped near, why dwell on it ? Why make a fuss ? Just live life to the full and realise that we're lucky to be alive and breathing. :) |
System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 22 years ago |
there's far too many to read ;) Someone might have already said this, but I heard it was about Suicide Bombings. (I know this was pre Sept11th, and all the Israel stuff.) But a lot of the later lyrics follow that I don't think you trust, In, my, self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die In my, self righteous suicide, I, cry, when angels deserve to die etc etc - I think it might talk about civilians and innocents in crossfires and being caught in conflicts, and how some people get caught up in wars that have nothing to do with them. |
Tool – Revolution Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I don't like this song :/ RATM and Tool are just too different in my humble opinion. If not in their song meanings - but so very much in their musical style. And it just doesn't work in a way :o |
Tool – Aenema Lyrics | 22 years ago |
NCCMLOA, rofl - I doubt you've ever actually listened to any Tool music. The most Satanist they get is when they sing about how to make cupcakes in German. |
Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I'm still laughing from ARMTHEARMLESS on 07-02-2002 @ 03:25AM "I think this song is about Maynard getting stung by a bee" Bwahahah, Ok then Cake - That ^^^ Is the real meaning of the song ;) |
Tool – The Patient Lyrics | 22 years ago |
the most EXCELLENT thing about all tool and APC songs (pointed out by headon earlier) Is that they're so heavily layered in metaphors that they can apply to anyone - and any situation. Almost every song I listen to by them really sums up my "love life" at the moment. I'm desperately in love with the most fantastic girl, and i've had a fair few chances with her in the past - and I have made progress with her. In The Patient, Maynard sings about devoting himself, keeping faith. In my situation, I think of how I keep putting time and effort into making this relationship with this girl, thinking someday it'll all fall into place for me. And the loving embrace to see me through - I usually think of my very close friends who have always comforted me in the situation etc ;) ..... But ...... I'm gonna wait it out ;) |
Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
by ARMTHEARMLESS on 07-02-2002 @ 03:25AM "I think this song is about Maynard getting stung by a bee" LOOOOOOOOL, It's so off topic and sillly and ruins a decent forum ... But I couldn't help but laugh XD and Oberones - I want to study Jungian now :) Props for the explanation. |
Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
isn't Nirvana and Englightenment all Buddhist ? |
A Perfect Circle – Sleeping Beauty Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I really don't agree with you... It doesn't have to include death in it - and I don't see how the lyrics could indicate it at all. |
Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 22 years ago |
because Ireland beat them? :D |
Tool – H. Lyrics | 22 years ago |
also - the title of the song being "H." Maybe it could relate to H.I.V ? |
Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
sooooo...... anywhere I can get some cheap chromosones in the sale? :D |
Tool – Hooker with a Penis Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I heard Suger when it was reletively new ... Since Chop Suey SOAD are pretty sold out around my school now :(! Argh, I spoke to that girl all about her name and tool etc ... She'd so blatantly rehearsed EVERYTHING she said! Waiting for someone like me to challenge her about how she felt about the music etc, and she gave me a long explanation straight out of a book or weeks of thinking. Another thing she said to me was something like "well, if tool wuz 2 sell out, thatd suk cos den theyd be on da cova of smash hits or smt, and all the pop listners wuld like it" Pot calling the kettle black!?!? |
Tool – Die Eier Von Satan Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I was Glad Argy went out ... Dirty players :o I want Senegal or Japan to win, Both up and coming clubs.. We got Brazil on Friday tho, Hope we can get past them :) |
A Perfect Circle – Sleeping Beauty Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Well, I heard this song a few weeks ago for the 1st time. And it really relates to what I'm going through at the moment ... I think it's about a girl (loved one) .... Who has changed dramaticly, into something bad... But Maynard (the hero/main character) Can remember, and still see the beautiful maiden inside of this new, nasty Shell She has obtained. I know a girl who I've been friends with for a very long time, I'm badly in love with her, and have been for months ... But she drinks / Smokes / Flirts , and isn't the same caring beautiful person she was when I knew her years ago ... I wish if I had a shot at going out with her, I'd "magicly heal" her ... that's how I've always thought of the song. A hidden beauty, shrowded by an ugly casing, that you want to awaken. |
Tool – Parabola Lyrics | 22 years ago |
At which point did I say it was about Sept the 11th ? It was my fave. Song at the time, and I felt I could relate the event to some of the lyrics. But my opinion could apply to a lot of things. |
Tool – Jimmy Lyrics | 22 years ago |
uppity ...... that story is .... wow... Breath taking, shocking and very moving :o |
