This song is a challenge to be true to yourself and your ideas. When I saw Bauhaus in '98 this was the first song they did of course. What was especially cool was that the rest of the band came out except for peter murphy. They wheeled a tv out and Murphy was on the tv singing for this song. Very symbolic. |

It's also in an early 80's vampire movie starring David Bowie called, "The Hunger" and the beginning is almost like a video for this song.

This is actually a remake of a Joy Division song. The lead singer of Joy Division killed himself and you can really see his despair in his lyrics. I think trent did a good job covering this song though the original has more despair in the vocals. |

Yet like a complex, singular function of will driving the desires and animal consciousness to the sentient layer of thought from the banal to the sacred. In essence an irregular method is developed wherin the subject undergoes the classic, mythical transformation from beast to divine understanding. |

Yeah this song is about vegetarianism. And even though I'm not vegitarian I like the some of the ideas behind the lyrics (The industrialization of the food industry for example). Still whenever I listen to it I can't help but start laughing when the Mooing starts at the end. Sorry. |

(One of the handful of people). I first heard this song in 1988 and it blew me away. Of course it's about suicide, that's a given. It's also a common theme of the next world being a better place, like Death of a Disco dancer and There's a Light That Never Goes Out. |
