| i had a slightly different interpretation until someone mentioned the coke/drug references, which make alot of sense ... but i had this revelation when i woke up one morning after a drunken night with someone in my bed thinking 'oh that's what connor means by what's so easy in the evening by the morning's such a drag.' the world of drugs/alcohol etc turns everything upside down, instead of what your mom always said about 'everything's better in the morning' it's the exact opposite. | |

Don't try to understand me your hands already know too much anyway . . . this song, to me, beautifully expresses the feeling you get when you're with that one person who makes you feel a way that nobody else can, and the amount of vulnerability that such a feeling gives one. that kind of vulnerability is hard to submit to. hope that made some sense. |

if you want to watch more on the topic, there's a really good movie called 'la historia official' and its worth watching. we watched it in spanish class and it's about a teacher coming to grips with the reality of what is happening. and i saw u2 today at the clinton libray opening and even though i was freezing cold and wet i thought bono was amazing. |

yes yes to all you kids that have not seen it ... almost famous ... *orgasms* it really rocks like no other. this song also makes me think of catcher in the rye, and mostly igby goes down which is kinda like it ... just how the movie deals with what you're supposed to do in life, and the whole feeling of being lost. the kid is disullisioned cause his dad got what was supposed to be the american ideal and then had a mental breakdown. and in catcher in the rye, he always tries to escape through girls and has this inclination to run away and start a new life. but, an amazing song all by itself. |

i could rant about the ingeniousness of ani forever. im obsessed. example: "tell you the truth i prefer the worst of you too bad you had to have a better half" it's great because it speaks to the level of how much easier it would be to get over that person if you could only see the bad, but the better part is always what comes up (the whole thing of "an idea" of a person rather than seeing them for who they are) AND on the level of "a better half" being the name for your signifigant other (the girl her ex is dating.) wahhh. i also love her music because in our world you're not supposed to express feeling in everyday life, just get over things and move on. you feel like a looser if you have feelings. i turned on this song after meeting an x's gf and it was so wonderful to have someone share your situation and feelings and display them so openly ... and its all ok cause its music. |

this is most definetly probably my favorite song of all time. the first time i heard it it just struck me in this awesome way. it's so romanitc, yet tragicly romantic (just like romeo and juliet duh!). this song just makes me feel so unique when I listen to it. i especially love the lyrics "I can't do the talk like the talk on the tv / And I can't do a love song like the way its meant to be / I can't do everything but I'd do anything for you..." they're just so simply straight-forward and honest, and amazingly describes how it feels to be in love. the whole song combined with all its elements is just a great lovesong, i listen to it whenever i'm feeling any kind of love problem. so good. i used to listen to it to put me to sleep. also fyi rent empire records - it's a kickass movie and this song is in it! (that's how i heard it first!) but don't buy the soundtrack for this song it's not on there! toodles! Can't do anything except be in love with you |
