Bright Eyes – Reinvent the Wheel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im not so sure it's elliot smith i think there's equal evidence to suggest it's about jeff mangum the line definitely IS "for a girl you loved but died" i.e. anne frank as theDubScout said there's also the reference to ghosts in the second verse and, most importantly, the last lines, which speak of the cyclical nature of life and reincarnation, which is essentially what In The Aeroplane... is about there's also no real definitive "death" of the person he's talking about... the person is just away from "the world where people are," i.e. the spotlight/performances/still making music (after releasing Aeroplane mangum, terrified of its success and his own fame, forsook his music career--a kind of JD Salinger retreat) |
Jets to Brazil – Cat Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Corrections: 1. To the sky and buried us == To the sky and MARRIED us 2. On the words of clouds == IN the words of clouds 3. get up == WAKE up 4. Made women, tonight == Made WINNING, tonight. 5. There is no 5. Good song. I think it's a dream about a perfect relationship in a perfect setting, although the "for everything to stop hurting" line throws me off. Maybe he can't get the girl, or lost the girl. A lot of other JTB songs are about that sort of thing, so I suppose it fits. |
