System of a Down – Spiders Lyrics 22 years ago
I'm not sure what the "obvious meaning" is to you, but the booklet says it's about remote observation--hidden cameras, etc. I'm not sure how that all ties into the song but either way it's still very good.

System of a Down – P.L.U.C.K. Lyrics 22 years ago
This is an amazing song, its definately(in my opinion) the best song on "System Of A Down" and perhaps S.O.A.D.'s best song ever. The drums are fast and intense, the guitar and bass fit together perfectly and the harmony between Daron and Serj is unbelieveable. If you'll notice, this is also the only song in which the band mentions their name. Oh, and thanks, foreignman, for the complete explanation. It's good to know that people actually care enough about this stuff to research it!

System of a Down – Peephole Lyrics 22 years ago
I like it a lot, especially how, if you'll notice, the background sounds like eerie circus music. I read what they wrote before the song, so I'm pretty sure its about drugs, but I don't see how.

Jimmy Eat World – The Middle Lyrics 22 years ago
yeah it reminds me a lot of school and trying to be "accepted" and crap. It tends to have that "chin up" sort of effect on me too.

Come to think of it, who are these "Kombucha Mushroom People" anyway?

System of a Down – Toxicity Lyrics 22 years ago
Perhaps he's saying that now that S.O.A.D. is famous, by singing the songs and performing and writing he's trying to teach the world something about itself. I dunno. Great song though. Personally, it makes me think of a nightmarish governmentally controlled future, like those depicted in books such as "1984" or "Farenheit 451"...if you've read either of those you'll know what I mean.

Linkin Park – One Step Closer Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it's about those times when someone is mad at you and keeps talking to you and the more you ask for a minute to calm yourself and reply, they just say more, and eventually you just break and lose it.("Shut up when I'm talking to you!")

Mudvayne – Nothing To Gein Lyrics 22 years ago
You know, dont take this the wrong way but I think some of the stuff Gein did is pretty amazing and-dare I say it-cool. Not like digging up the bodies and murdering and stuff, but just like, how he made clothes from flesh and furniture from bones. I actually wouldnt mind learning how to do that, If the flesh and bone was procured in a more...ah...shall we say, scrupulous way. Anywho, just thought I'd add that. dont freak, ok?

Mudvayne – Death Blooms Lyrics 22 years ago
hmmmn....thats a very interesting view to take, anduin. Personally I agree with DownedSystem though. I think it's about someone very old, wishing they would just die because they are too frail and weak to do anything else. This point is supported even more by the video.

Mudvayne – Pharmaecopia Lyrics 22 years ago
I think that's a bit of an exaggeration...True, he did write them both on their last day in the studio, but I think he had more like a 30-60 minute period to do it. Still, that is pretty amazing....2 of the best songs on L.D.50 in such a short time.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 22 years ago
Ok, this probably means absolutely shit to all of you but after reading the Book of Nod, me and my friend have a theory on what it could mean. We think it refers to the biblical story of Cain[e].

Allow me to explain...

"Wake up"-everyone in the town had to make a weekly offering on the morning (of Sunday I assume). Cain was a fruit farmer, his brother Abel was a cattle farmer...Cain would sacrifice his best fruit, Abel would sacrifice his best cows. God was displeased with Caine, because he gave so much less than his brother.

"Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup"-After killing Abel, Cain acted as if he did not know what happened to him.

"Why'd you leave the keys(kids?) upon the table?"-In this case, "kids" would make more sense since Cain killed Abel on the altar for offerings.

"Here we go create another fable"-The murder of Abel by Caine was the start of one of the many well known biblical plots.

"You wanted to"-This could have something to do with the fact that all the while Cain was just trying to please God and it got out of hand. This could also be a reference to religious fanatics.

"I dont think you trust in my self-righteous suicide"-No one, including God, thought Cain had done the right thing, and as Cain probably knew, it's not the best idea to piss God off.(it's practically suicide. Get it?)

"I cry when angels deserve to die"-Cain was really mad at God for punishing him so severely, thinking the punishment did not fit the crime, so to speak.

"Father into your hands, I commend my spirit/Why have you forsaken me?"-Though these are both direct quotes from Jesus when he was being crucified, they hold decidedly more weight for Cain. Cain actually was forsaken by God, that was part of his punishment.

So there you have it. Maybe this isnt the intended meaning of the song(if it DOES have an intended meaning at all, which I'm starting to doubt:-)) But I think it's pretty uncanny how all these things can be applied to the story. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not insisting that I'm right, I'm just putting in my 2 cents and thinking maybe, to someone, it's worth reading.

Mudvayne – Dig Lyrics 22 years ago
My perception of this song is heavily influenced by events that have happened to me, but this is what I have to say:
I think it's about how sometimes, you just want to be who you are, but people view that as "inappropriate" or "unacceptable" and then they try to change you; not realizing that it's impossible for a person's true self to change without them wanting it to. Being a goth, I've faced a lot of that at school. But that second verse is definately about the media, I agree with yall on that one. That whole suicide(or rather assisted suicide) part in the middle is really cool, but I still cant figure out what it has to do with the rest of the song.
