oh, how i love it when people can't fucking spell, or speak in coherent sentences, and try to rant and sound intelligent. you're too opinionated for your IQ level, man. anyway, i don't think Alkaline Trio sold out. i mean, they're on a different label, of course things are going to be a little different, but they basically sound the same. it's not like they went from singing about drinking themselves stupid to singing about pointless shit that you hear all over the radio. i don't watch mtv, i don't know about this video, and i don't care, either. meh. this is a great song, like all the others. |

what's with everybody bashing Hot Topic? what's with Hot Topic running everything into the fucking ground? they have EVERY TIME I DIE shirts in a store that fucking sells that shitty nu metal image. is nothing sacred? my fucking heart dropped when i saw that shirt on the wall. come on, do you kids really need your shirts to speak for you? "in my world, you don't exist", well aren't you cool. i won't lie, i go into the store, but it's sad when people rush in, and buy their merch by the truckload, and then bounce around, chirping about how original they are. if you're stepping into the mall to feed your wardrobe, you've already blown your shot at originality. that's basically the point we're making. |

by scrap_paper on 05-27-2002 @ 11:01PM why do u people care so much about her image.... its all the music that counts and really, to anyone else who whined about it being about the music and not the image, fucking, TELL THAT TO AVRIL. dude, she's the one that is always going on and on about how she's not a pop star, but a rock star, and how she's sooo "punk rawk", and this total badass. well, i'm sorry to be the one to inform her, but she is singing Mandy Moore tunes with more of a rock oriented band backing her. i'd respect her more if she just cut the shit about how "hardcore" she is, and ditched the fake fucking tattoos, and just sang her fucking pop songs, and went at it straight forward like that. i mean, shit, nobody else finds it interesting that she finds success off of a single that goes against "posers", meanwhile she is the biggest poser to hit Mtv since Fred Durst? this has nothing to do with the fact that i am not a fan of bubble gum pop, though that is true, or even the fact that i think her lyrics are very simple, and that she takes too much credit for songs she hasn't written all on her own, i just can't stand how much of a hypocrite she is, and how everyone praises that. she needs to wash off the temporary tattoos, take off the tie, put down the skateboard, and wake the fuck up. |

"Everybody knows it's all about the things that get stuck inside of your head", oh, how i adore that line. this is also one of my favorite Bright Eyes songs, because the metaphors are rather amazing, and he is just so clever about the entire thing. also, i agree with how amazing him screaming "you're a fool" is, because it's just so passionate, it gives me chills, and i can never help but yell along. haha. i'm a nerd. Conor is a genius. |

i don't know if it's necessarily about AIDS, but the ending definitely makes me think of someone who is ill, and going to die. you know how they say your whole life passes before your eyes before you die? i always think of that when i hear him sing, "and in a moment you will know everything, was it just a dream?" also, he is singing to a lover, it seems, through the entire song, and ends it with, "and outline of the one you loved in a life that was not longer will be stands above you as you sleep", which also makes me think the person is going to pass away, simply because he says "a life that was, but no longer will be." regardless, this is one of my favorite Bright Eyes song, i'd say it's written very well, but they all are, so... |

personally, i agree with punkdoll. i mean, i think anyone who doesn't do everything themselves should credit the band somehow. even if it's just on the fucking cd sleeve. also, she is a pop artist. just like Britney Spears, only she writes her own lyrics. personally, i think her lyrics are immature and simple, and i don't know what all of the fuss is about, but that Sk8er Boi song makes me ill. she should take off her tie, go buy something from the GAP, and stop trying to seem all tough and punk rock, 'cause she is making a fool of herself. on another note, don't bother to call me stupid or question why i came here to read her lyrics. i was curious because my friend had her cd on in the car just now, and i wanted to see if there was anything of substance to her work. apparently, there isn't, and i'm sorry if that offends you, but it's just music, don't be so defensive. it's pathetic. |
