hey.. i agree wth you guys. specially about the label deal. david's stuff applies to everyone. and before anyone at all tries to start an arguement about pedro i think they should go listen to magazine. i've read interviews of david's before, and when he talks about his christian fan base, he's said something to the likes of, most of the christian church is as bad as the pharisees back in the day... i think that's a reason why alot of people are so eager to pick a fight. |

wow.. this song is definatly about the futility of trying to strive on your own. you will fail. david bazan is even using biblical refrences to when the man has tried to strive without god. the golden calf line frome when the isrealites made a golden calf while moses was geting the ten commandments, the were punished and the tower of babel. when he says it just wasn't in me. i could not fine stength to save my life. he showing how each and everyone of us is imperfect to the point wher no one can get anywhere by themselves.. and yes i agree david bazan is a genious. |

I think the darkness line comes out of the perspective that he is talking from. He is talking to the arrogant side, from the wicked. Thus he's talking about when the arrogant think that the way they have it is right (thus righteous) and they try to convince the wicked of this. (as you cram light down my throat.) it been said but the sense that he uses the word metaphysical it mean vague to the point of being hard to understand where one side starts and the other ends. and thus in some ways there are no sides, just one group of people, and all of them are wicked. but yea... this song is amazing.. definatly the best on the album.. definatly something to live by. |
