outkast has been quoted saying that this song has nothing to do with the current Iraq campaign. Just look at when it was released. they said that it was about people in the music industry only going half-way with things. they said if you are gonna bring it, then make sure you bring it all the way. they used the metaphor of the first bombing of Iraq in the early 90's, the US went about it only half-assed & didn't commit themselves fully. |

IMO, the key & rollerskates she refers to is a metaphor for the physical connection during sex. If you listen to it, the sexual inuendo is practically dripping from her voice. This song definately is very flirty & suggestive. |

I just see it as telling about his relationship with a girl, who constantly is making him question whether she is his girl or not. "you're breaking my confidence daily" - as in, he never knows where he stands with her.
The frustrations of a relationship! :)
On a side note, I think this is one of my favorite songs to play on the jukebox at the bar in college. It is a GREAT sing-a-long, clap, stomp song. I love the funky beat at the very beginning. Good times. |

Very good song. It makes me laugh, having just graduated from college. It is funny to think back about how, as freshman, everyone is so worried about fitting in and impressing people and being cool. And I like the second verse about how we are all in a rush to grow up and we don't realize how great we have it when we're young.

I like how he is so descriptive about the inside of his car, like how his sighs are making the glass fog up & the fog fighting his defroster. Great visual lyrics. I think everyone can connect with driving home after being with someone and just analyzing the whole thing and being frustrated cuz it never works out right. |

Yeah, a very fun song. The beat just makes you wanna go out. The verses are both kind of shout outs to their roots. "The Eds" was the name of a band a couple of 311 guys were in growing up.
