I've seen these scenes
Haunt me in my dreams
I've just begun to question why
How could I forget
Imaginary splits
Don't have a thing a to do with life
To me that means, he has been questioning why what he sees in his dreams, doesn't happen in real life. And then he remember his dreams and ideals don't have a thing to do with real life :/ |

Forgot to add something.
I guess "stain glass sunday school charades" could just be a reference to mind numbing religion or the training of children to accept their life and give up their childhood dreams. |

Um I'm bored so SONG ANALYSIS TIME!
From what I get, Its basic meaning is he wishes everything had turned out differently. From the last part you get that his current job is not to his liking "eight hour bitterness all for whose sake" and he wishes he "was an astronaut", back to childhood dreams and expectations. Also this sounds like an elderly person to me. "we're rocking in our reclining chairs" sounds like some old people on a porch or nursing home or something. "those are the pieces of my story line" signifies that his life is basically over, and that it has been a broken down life, much less than it could have been. I guess "stain glass sunday school charades" could just be a reference to mind numbing religion or the training of children to accept their life.
