The Silver Jews – Friday Night Fever Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is actually a cover, but I think it speaks to what DC Berman feels is authentic country music.

The Silver Jews – How to Rent a Room Lyrics 15 years ago
I actually think that the line does start "An anchor lets you see the river move" as I think he's making reference to watching the river flowing while standing still. I'm not making any assumptions interpretatively, but I believe the lyric is correct as above.

This song is obviously about putting a cat to sleep

Dolorean – You Can't Win Lyrics 16 years ago
I wasn't going to type out the lyrics to this song since, obviously, it only has the same phrase over and over. But, looking at it, it does seem like a sort of mantra, doesn't it? I mean, if you say it enough times you might just believe it.

Okkervil River – Maine Island Lovers Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is much better live than on the album, and, really, that's saying something since it's great on the album, too.

How is it possible for one person to be so goddamn clever?

They rocked so hard that they all rocked themselves out of the band and into new bands!

The Silver Jews – I Remember Me Lyrics 22 years ago
The saddest of all David Berman's songs, I think. Amazingly sad, but so poetic.

The Get Up Kids – Overdue Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree sort of with vacantjoshs. The new album isn't nearly as good as any of tguk's older stuff. "Campfire Kansas" is my favorite song on the album. It is slowly growing on me, though. If this album had come out by any other band, I probably wouldn't have given it the opportunity.

I don't think it has the same intimate feel as the two previous albums. It is slowly growing on me, but when I first heard it I was disappointed. I am glad that they are trying to be creative and try new things, though. "Campfire Kansas" is my favorite song on the album.
