first off poetry and lyrics can be interpreted differently by different people so stop dissin people cuz they think differently than you do. I personally think this song is about Sept 11. Without boring you all, I'll give a brief synopsys:
The reference to the smoke and fire and virginia is about Sept. 11 and the damage done. The part about the field full of perfection is about the brave souls who tried to fight off the terrorists and the plane crashed into the field. I also think he is trying to think of the good that came from the bad. People who were suffering cancer and other diseases don't have to suffer anymore. However, when he says wants to do the same, he just wants a cure for the world diseases, so don't think i'm saying tom is a terrorist. The part about sending a letter through the sea could be him taking the view of the dead and trying to communicate from Heaven to earth. Which is why he says IF WE CAN. It seems that he takes many different angles into perspective about the day. But that is my opinion, you are entitled to yours, but I write lyrics and I purposely write some that can be taken multiple ways. So I think this is what Tom is saying. |

I totally agree with PunkRawkLoser just cuz a bunch of people love your music doens't mean you are a sellout. Look at Dashboard Confessional, an assload of people loved them before they even got on the radio. They are hard workers and their live set speaks for itself. A band also can become popular by word of mouth. And for all you jack-asses who don't consider this song emo, get off your lazy asses and listen to it already, it may not seem emo by the lyrics, but listen to the song before you make assinine comments. Also, back to the sell out deal, if anyone reading this is from Pittsburgh, you should know about a band called The Clarks. These guys are the biggest thing in Pittsburgh, and sell out every show at every venue they do here, and they aren't even national yet (I don't think at least, correct me if I'm wrong)! So ya, you little babies that don't know shit about music, shut your pie-hole already! |
