i think it is about someone playing with his emotions and then rejecting him personally. I dont beleive it has a christian or an holy point of view. Also Soil isnt religious. But yes he has been rejected and is angry and later in the song is accepted by the girl but this time he is too ignorant to notice. In short, I think Unforgiven II is really about a guy who is down..and who wants a girlfriend to pick him back up again. He finds this girl..but she isnt all that he wanted..for example..she cheats and really makes the man upset. He wants to work things out..but she isnt his type..its almost everytime he talks to her about it..hes kinda expecting the same result(Lay beside me..tell me what theyve done..to make my demons run) Although he wanted a girlfriend so bad to help him..she really wasnt the person..and shes his downfall(Could you be there..because im the one who waits for you). After time..he cant take it anymore..so he kills her in his hurt and rage(Lay beside me..this wont hurt I swear..She loves me not..she loves me still..but she'll never love again..she'll be there when im gone..dead sure she'll be there) He did everything to please her..but she kept spitting back in his face..and eventually she paid the price with her life. And hes not sure if what he did was right..he kinda regrets what he did..but in the end..he believes it was the right thing to do(Lay beside me..tell me what ive done..the door is closed so are your eyes..but now i see the sun) the sun is kind of a represenation of the happiness that he needed..which was to get rid of her. the whole key thing was what she deserved...a key to his happiness..and that opened the door so he could see the sun,(i take this key.and i bury it in you) this is what i think the whole song is about..i think its pretty accurate. Metallica forever..the best metal band that ever lived! |
