Rush – Scars Lyrics 13 years ago
Definitely a great track. I love those background synthesizers with the strong beat of the drums and percussive bass line.... I can imagine this music video...seeing the band walking out of their dressing room with Geddy wearing sunglasses all walking toward the state in a triangle, with that serious-looking face that shows "we mean business" - something you might see in a crime drama flick. The shot being in black and white, and in slow motion..

Wonderful song - I just think the chorus doesn't fit the rest of the song. But still - magnificent!

Rush – Marathon Lyrics 13 years ago
Power Windows is a terribly underrated album - it's definitely their prize from their experimentation with synthesizers and electronics - they still remained edgy, with a rock-taste but had that 80s flare - that flare that defined what the 80s was. I feel that Rush is probably one of those up there that defined the electronic sound of the 80s (sure there were pop artists, heavy metal artists, and dedicated electronic artists, but Rush definitely stood out).

Anyway moving on, I personally didn't like Big Money but it was more of a radio-single than anything profound. But Mystic Rhythms, Marathon and Middletown Dreams are my favourite songs - that kind of cry out to you.

Rush== Pinnacle of 80s Awesomeness. I wish I were about 15 years older just so I could have grown up to Rush: (

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Can't Stop Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a catchy song - free spirit etc.... I hardly think there is any real meaning to it. You have to understand, artsits poets, lyricists dont sit there planning every little allegory, metaphor and hidden meaning in a song. "Okay right here i'm going to make a subtle reference to my drug use!" They don't plan everything out. Not everything is supposed to mean something. THis song especially not everything is meant to be something. Not every song has a specific meaning or deep profound reason - maybe just to make you feel good.

Also I do like the red hot chili peppers - but if you think they are the greatest band in the world - or that system of a down, offspring, or green day are ...you need to get out and explore music more... stop watching MTV and really get out and listen to more music from the 60s 70s and even 80s and early 90s..... There is a lot of bad music out there. It's true - not everything is "good" music. So go out and explore.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – This Velvet Glove Lyrics 14 years ago
Velvet Glove doesn't necassarily refer to condom - i've never heard it used that way... and god not everything is about sex or drugs.

1)This idiom is used to describe a person who appears gentle, but is determined and inflexible underneath.

Arch Enemy – Enemy Within Lyrics 14 years ago
Neil Peart (Jim Ladd "Innerview", 1984): "It's part one of a trilogy but it's the last one to appear. The last three albums have each contained a part of that trilogy, and I started thinking about them all at the same time, but they appear in the order in which they were easiest to grasp. In other words, "Witch Hunt" was the first one, dealt with that mentality of mob rule, and what happens to a bunch of people when they come together and they're afraid, and they go out and do something really stupid and really horrible. That was easy to grasp, and you see plenty of examples of that in real life as well as in fiction and in films of course, too. So that was easy to deal with. The second one was "The Weapon," and it was dealing with how people use your fears against you, as a weapon, and that took a little longer to come to grips with, but eventually I got my thinking straightened out and the images that I wanted to use, and collected them all up, and it came out. And then finally, "The Enemy Within" was more difficult, because I wanted to look at how it affects me, but it was more than about me. I don't like to be introspective as a rule. I think I'm gonna set that down as my first rule, as "never be introspective!" But, uh, I wanted to, at the same time I wanted to write about myself in a universal kind of way, I want to find things in myself that I think apply."

Rush – Subdivisions Lyrics 14 years ago
For those who are wondering, on the RUSH FAQ it says Neil Peart Says "Subdivisions" in the chorus of the studio recorded song. However this is wrong. It's actually newscaster/reporter Mark Dailey from City TV/MuchMusic (Those who live in the Greater Toronto Area know who he is).

A Perfect Circle – 3 Libras Lyrics 16 years ago
I must honestly say, that though most of these meanings are about love and relationships, i think that life_hazard and faust's meanings really stand out the most about prostitutes. i cannot even put it a better way than they have.

This song starts off really beautifully with the flute. But it ends like...unfinished. it sounds like he's not done yet. I think it'd be better if he took the beginning part sang it and faded out. that'd be good.

If you people love maynards lyrics and all the meanings, check out his original band > TOOL.
They are fucking amazing because each of the members are amazing. Each person has a melody in a way. It's like 4 solos put together. And not to mention Maynard- He has the most amaaaaaazzzzing lyrics in tool. He brings that talent to A Perfect Circle. For the best lyrics check out all of their work. For the best Music, (lyrics too of course;] ) check out the last two albums, 'Aenima' and 'Lateralus'. Maynards stuff with tool is SOOOOOOOOOOO deep you wouldn't beleive. It's so spiritual, and meaningful and even controversial. Check it out!!!!!

KoЯn – Daddy Lyrics 17 years ago
The producer of the album, i forgot his name, but he was really famous. he produced many other famous bands too. i think the guy is ross robinson, or rick rubin .anyway, when they were recording all the songs for this album it was the producer who made the sound of raw metal of just guitars and distortion and the singing. When they recorded 'daddy', he really pushed johanthan really hard, yeling at him, bringin his emotions out which is why he was so emotional about this song. IT is also because of the producer that this ENTIRE album was created this way and had such huge success

Alien Ant Farm – Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
the bassist is actually good. not as good as like the chilli peppers bassist Flea, the KING of bass players today, but certainly better thatn like Mark Hoppus of Blink 182. And i tell u one thing mj's song sucked. but taking a shitty song and making it sound good is a skill. If you create music all thats yours then you make things where YOU call the shots and you make everything custom to you. but playing a cover song with your style and making it good is an amazing thing. Mimicking a song is shit. but making it sound good is a different better story. here
this piece is a famous classical piece. I'm sure everybody's heard it sometime or another
Greig- In the Hall of the Mountain King
this is a cover of it by a group of cellists named Apocalyptica. They do mettalica covers but using cello's and it's AMAZING
this one "in the hall of the mountain king" is amazing classical AND rock so check it out.

Aaron Carter – Ain't That Cute Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually. There's one thing about pop. People who are in the business just to be famous and make money, are just stupid dolls made by the record companies to make more money for themselves. I will admit one thing. Aaron carter does make alot of money. he could buy and sell my ass right now. But someone who has alot of money doesnt necassariy deserve respect unless he earns it all by himself and has a good reason for it. Would you respect a millionaire who won the lottery? or someone who came to this country (U.S. or Canada) with no money and built a fortune from scratch? And one thing is if you do something that you don't beleive for a different reason such as fame and money, but u don't actually beleive in it....i think there's a word for that......Hypocrisy. People who like pop, and sing it i give them somewhat respect for them. People who are in it just for money, and actually like Rock or something, are pitiful bastards cause they don't beleive in it. Thats the difference between things like pop, and other music. Most pop is just manufactured by record companies. Most other music, i.e. Classical, Rock, rap, Christian, folk, etc. are all from the soul. So think about that. They do have money and do have alot, but it was all just given to them. they didn' work as hard for it as someone else in the industry and it's shits like popstars and stuff that kills this industry and this exquisite form of the fine arts.

Aaron Carter – Ain't That Cute Lyrics 17 years ago
Looking at the fact that only aout 3 of 78 comments actually like the song, and considering that this song has the most coments of the aaron carter sections, while the rest have abou 1, 2, 3 or at the most 13, and considering that most people got here from reading the Tool Song meaning and was refered to here by someone with the debates against "kristen" i'd have to say that the majority is right and that aaron carter DOES suck, and that people who do like aaron carter are just blinded by the media and MTV, or MUCH music, and told wat to like because they are "cute" and have no idea wat kinda bullshit this pop stuff is. Some pop is real and has real meaing. but the MOSt are shit that they play on mtv and "teens" stuff the stereotype of what teenage people listen to.. so people who listen to aaron carter dont realize it but they are just being spoonfed things for more sales of the company. These are the people who would have likely to have been brainwashed into joining WWII, or any war thinking it was good, but ended up suffering

I listened to lateralus the first time when i was going to sleep and when i first heard mantra, i pictured a forest or woods like in the lord of the rings or something, and old sacred wisdom trees, making the erie noise trying to communicate to those who seek knowledge. It sounds like they're trying to advise someone or something. i saw something like that on a tv show and this song reminds me of it. :D

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 17 years ago
I got one thing to say about this song/relgion etc. I am very good person. i respect everyone, don't discriminate or judge people, have mercy on those who need it, etc. On the topic of prejudice and relgions, i respect EVERY relgion. I am a hindu but i respect every other beleif be it, Hindu, Buddist, Muslim, Chritian, Catholic, Prodesten, orthadox, jewish, etc. Whatever you want to belive i respect that. I definatley respect Christians too. The only thing i don't like about Chritianity is the superirority that they think they have over everyone else. They say even in the 10 comandments(sorry dont' know how to spell that), that you must only belive in "God", (Their God), you must have FULL faith in Him, and let him be your savior. Well that's fine and dandy if your Christian, but they are basically saying that they are the only ones that are right- being arogant and egotistical. If you do your own thing and have rules for yourselves that's fine, but you CANNOT force others to join you and tell them they're wrong because they beleive in something else. They also say that humans must be dependant on God and everything, and that we are all sinners and jesus christ died for us. Sure watever, but that doesn't make everyone else a sinner if you beleive in something else.
Little story. i had this friend who was the same ethnicity as i was but he was Christian (I was Hindu). he always invited me to his church and gave me packages teaching me about Christianity, telling me that Christianty was the only right religion, and to come seek guidance and give my sould to God so that i can be "saved". I considered this blasphemous to my relgion. I asked him if he would come with me to a service at my temple, and he refused to because he said that he doesn't beleive in anything else but his own relegion. I think that taking away other people's rights to beleive wat they want is called prejudice, that's what i don't respect about Christianity.

Rage Against the Machine – Bulls on Parade Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm just guessing here, but I think the "Bulls" refers to the people in of the country and those who are put into war, which is the "parade". But not the good kinda parade like the Santa Clause parade or Thanksgiving Parade. In China (as i hear it), when a person is convicted and sentenced the death sentence, (which is many), they are first paraded out in the streets chained together to humilate them and to show the people what happens to them. After the parade, they are lined up and shot execution style and they throw away their bodies. The song doesn't relate DIRECTLY to that, but I think (AND I STRESS THE WORD "THINK"), that the government parades the troops and the people who fight for the country off into war to let them die, and suffer. The parade kills people of other countries and hurts everyone else.

Tool – Parabol Lyrics 17 years ago
Ya, just for people who don't know a "Parabola" is a Mathematical curve that can be interpretted by a quadratic equation such as y=x^2, y=2(x+3)(x-2). If you put this into a graphing calculator, you will get a curve that points upward of downward, but the parabola is symetrical. The exact highest point is called the optimal point, and everything before and after the point is symetrical. But don't take my word for it (i got 66% in math this semester but'll get better:P). But I don't understand how this ties into the song, or why the introduction is spelled "Parabol"....i had no idea when i first heard the word in math class all i thought about was the song.. it's a crazy song. but i have no idea how it's related to the title OR a quadratic equation. ????

Man........This is a MAD song....so many meanings. Multiple meanings of a song=REALLY DEEP INTELECTUAL Song...soad is QUITE a band. they're music is so basic that even a guy who's played guitar for only a few weeks could play it (from experience of teaching someone soad's songs), but they take those simple riffs and make an amazing song out of it...it takes a good band to make a simple thing sound amazing just like it takes a good artist to take a simple strokes and lines, or a few blocks of clay to become art. saod has the spirit, the attitude and the GOOD lyrics that make the band so wonderful.

Wow. I don't know anything more than what the smart people of this forum has posted but I'll tell you one thing. Maynard has got to be one of the most intellectual writes of our time, if not all time. He has got to be the Shakespeare of the 20th Century and one day, hundreds of years later (maybe after the 46+2 evolution takes place!:P), people all over the world, scholars, universities, philosophers even high school students, will be studying analyzing his songs and lyrcis to find the real meanings and find more about the human beings as we do with Shakespeare right now....(Dang Shakespeare's Crazy!!!)....1 more thing.. Tool and MJK, Kicks the living breathing shit out of all this crazy Britney Spears, *Nsync, pop shit, rap and reggae we hear so much about now....so there!!!!
