i couldn't agree more with you antisoap. I love the way this entire song is performed. The vocals have so much emotion and character to them, like previous people said, the way he says "hey" and the grunting. I love it when his voice cracks when he sings "is the sound that the mother makes when the baby breaks." I use to swear by Monkey Gone to Heaven being the best Pixies song untill i heard this. |

Yeah i do have to agree with StrayCatStyle22 in one way, i do find the lead singers voice to be a tad annoying and whinny (bad mallpunk dashboard wannabe). So when i first picked up their CD i was really disappointed at first. I let it sit on my shelf for about a year. Then one night cleaning all my records i actually listened to the lyrics and i was blown away, especially by this song. Sure i still do find some of their songs to be kind of "lame" but otherwise, a great thing to come from Winnipeg. |

I agree when people consider Something Corporate emo.. and they aren’t even close to being on the same level as JYPU. This was the first song i downloaded of theirs.. and i was blown away! I love how it builds at the end.. I don't want to be predictable and lame by saying how much this song means to me so i'll end this! |

I believe Matt wrote this before the entire Columbine incident. When Beautiful Midnight came out, the media just assumed that there was a relation between the two! Otherwise I agree to what you wrote blender, "so fuck you and your principals and fuck whatever made me perhaps you think i'm evil perhaps you think i'm crazy" I think those few lines relate pretty well to the point your making. But then again it's Matt Good so you never know quite what his intensions for writing the song were. |

| I don’t know what it is about this song but every time i hear it, it hits me so hard. When i first heard it on Chasing Amy i couldn't get it out of my head for weeks. But other than that i think the meaning behind this song is pretty black and white, not exactly brain surgery. Maybe thats what drew it to me in the first place how simplistic yet powerful it is. Her voice at the end when she starts to scream gives me goose bumps. :) | |
