The Bronx – Heart Attack American Lyrics 19 years ago
It's SO obviously about defiance. Your "parents" theory is shot to Hell, upon the verse about work. It merges defiance with apathy and growing up.

The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics 20 years ago
Uh, no, it still isn't. Aside from the spelling errors ("capulary"="capillary"), and unimportant things like, "a safe", when it should be "the safe"... it's "aureole"; not "area"

The Roots – You Got Me Lyrics 21 years ago
Accidentally hit the "Add button"... but to add to what I said..

Also, if I recall correctly, the Roots did a song before "You Got Me", that parodied the bling, cristal fascination.

Be that as it may, The Roots are good. The only rap group that really utilizes a live band. They're the only rap band aside from NWA and some early Wu that I'll listen to.

Poison the Well – Nerdy Lyrics 21 years ago
Poison The Well's not that great... and their lyrics aren't "beautiful", they're bland and contrived. It's very generic.

Choking Victim – In My Grave Lyrics 21 years ago
Basically, the song's about deat (obviously). It discusses that all the things people do throughout their lives is useless once you die. (the second verse is very evident of this)

Leftover Crack – Crack City Rockers Lyrics 21 years ago
It's about being in a shitty situation... squatting, beeing piss-poor and shit, thinking the only way to escape that life is through death.

Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards – Skunx Lyrics 21 years ago
Skunx was a term used for people heavily into the Oi! scene. What do we know about the older oi scene? It was very violent. Gangs formed, generally skins (not always racist skins, mind you). London had its London Skinz, and the Bay Area had the Skunx. A gang of little violent kids who took the oi scene as gospel.

India.Arie – Ready for Love Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm probably the only male posting on this song... but I heard this song for the first time yesterday. This type of music isn't exactly my scene. My girlfriend of a year broke up with me... well, decided she needed to take a break from the relationship about three weeks ago... and yesterday, she asked me to listen to this song. She said not to "maybe give it a listen", but asked for me to make sure I listen to it. So I sat and I listened very carefully. She said "there will be a few parts you need to hear, and you'll understand." Those parts were:
-"a man who loves music (...) thinks with his heart" (she says it describes me to a "T")
-"...Take me in your hands. I will learn what you teach.." (She looks at me as a teacher of wisdom)
-"Here with an offering of (...) my mind"
She told me she really wants to get back together, she needs me back, and happily, we got back together. From now on, this song to me will always represent her. This is one of the most touching songs I have ever heard, and I will always attribute it to a very important moment of my life. When I got back together with the woman I love.

It's about losing your virginity. Plain and simple. Think about it, children.

Pixies – The Holiday Song Lyrics 21 years ago
I hate you people. People in general, I mean. People sit there and don't comment on awesome songs, and when they do comment, it's all "this song rox!!!!!" not the "song meaning". Halfwits. Fuck yourselves. At any rate... a line is incorrect in this. It should be: "He took his sister from his head, and impregnated her on the sheets". What I take this song to mean is a guy is warning his son about incest. I don't think that the kissing, or impregnating is a hidden meaning. I think it's like, he caught his son and daughter kissing ("sit right down MY wicked/evil son"), and is warning him of the consequences ["about a boy who fell from glory (...) kissed 'til they were dead."]. The father is probably beating the son ("it always turns out this way; here I am 'with my hand'). I can't wait till I can correct and submit lyrics again, since people are fucktards.

Hüsker Dü – Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely Lyrics 21 years ago
Obvious. A breakup, a guy trying to get over her, and trying to help her get over him. He wants to know if she's alright, but he doesn't want her to depend on him to cheer her up.

Hüsker Dü – 59 Times The Pain Lyrics 21 years ago
The lyrics for this are really wrong. But dammit, I can't edit them. I think this song is about being discontented both with yourself and your surroundings. It's just about being a bitter, hateful person altogether, and wishing that could be changed.

Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot Lyrics 21 years ago
You guys are fucking retarded if you think that 1987 was "long before emo hit the scene at all", are we forgetting about bands like Minor Threat? Emo's been around a LONG time.

Ozzy Osbourne – No More Tears Lyrics 21 years ago
no one ever includes the spoken word part...

"It's just a sign of the times.
Going forward in reverse.
Still, he who laughs last
is just a hand in the bush"

Mother Love Bone – Crown Of Thorns Lyrics 21 years ago
This is a beautiful song. It's so well-done. To me, I've always interpreted this song as being the story of a man who has broken up with somebody he really loved, but is trying to move on. (hence: "This is my kinda love/It's the kind that moves on/It's the kind that leaves me alone"). The line "don't burn your bridges woman", implies he's not fully over her.. but he understands. He wants her to realize he'll still be there for her, kind of thing.

Stone Temple Pilots – Creep Lyrics 21 years ago
Lyrics are wrong. In the chorus, it should be
"I'm half the man I used to be. This I feel, as the dawn, it fades to grey"

and it should be "Barbara's got a gun"
