I'm only just fully appreciating this song, it's so beautiful that piano part, it's a great song to have in the background playing softly.
What I am trying to grasp though is what it is trying to signify was wrong with the love. It seems to say that there were good things and things that made the person smile and enjoy life. However there is the bits that say you never really understood me, and that you feared me or there was a fear of full commitment. I'm not sure what the fear is of, if it is the person or the love? |

This is a great song, such a shame it didn't do so well in the charts (although means we treasured few can appreciate it!)
I love the fact there is a Bowie influence on this song (including the name of the song as a take on his 'Hunky Dory' title), Bowie is class. |

I love this song. This is probably my favourite Stevens song because i think it carries a lot more meaning and emotion in the lyrics than the other songs do.
This is obviously about leaving someone you love but not knowing 100% whether it is the right thing to do and wondering how you will feel about it in the future. I really like the fact that Rachels singing in this song is quite subdued and while some would say that makes it less passionate I find it gives a melancholy feeling and a more thoughtful feel to the sound. |

I've only heard this for the first time today....and wow, of all the new songs i've heard this just blows me away. It is so beautiful and just, Oh i can't listen to it because it is 'too' beautiful.
"This is my way of saying goodbye
Because I can't do it face to face"
There is something so distressing about that line, it just shows how much emotion is packed into it, that face to face is just too much, the videotape is easier emotionally.
It would be interesting to hear more of the background to this song... |

I hate these lines, just because they are so true and a depressing fact. Someone I felt close to was at a social meeting just a couple of months ago, I hadn't seen her for a while and It was so hard to see her the other side of the room, knowing her like I do but knowing that it means nothing, knowing that it only hurts so bad. |

This is a good song, not my favourite Iron maiden one though, that would be Hallowed be thy name.
Just wanted to say that i think this song is obviously not 'evil', Iron Maiden are one of those bands where a lot of things are used for 'style'. And using 666 and satan as a symbol of a fear inducing figure and a dominant figure who can tempt you towards evil and the dark. I'm a christian and i so no harm in this song, anyone who does is being too serious. In no way do I think it glamourises satan. i mean come on its the music that counts with maiden not the lyrics.
And ignore the fools who say comments just to incite anger, look in many other song comments and you will find similar people dissing that song/band. Theres nothing they can ever do to diminish the enjoyment of music, only the government and media can do that ;) |

It is so great to hear some real talent coming from the young american female singers. There are so many around at the moment Duff, Lohan, Lavigne, Spears, Aguilera etc. but Michelle to me is so much more natural, unfortunatley this seems to mean the media ignores her to some extent. I hope she can keep strong minded and do what she wants and enjoy her music. this song is certainly one of her best, real venom with a kick of fun in there as well. |

This is really the H.I.M song that got me interested in them, I can relate to the things in their songs. Sometimes wish i didn't but there we go that is life.
This song is interesting in the way that it refers to him and her, usually it is me and you. I think this is how HIM can be really good though as there is an observance of how love can be in this world, i.e far from perfect. |

I heard that this song was practiced by the band members by themselves and then they came together to record it due to the subject of the song they didn't want to overplay it. This subject being the death of the Cavanaghs mother. You can really here the emotion in this song and stands head and shoulders above any other 'emotional' songs. |

This was available on the 'Save the Linoleum' EP. It's got a pretty good beat to it and you can hear the venom when Jewel sings the lines. It is quite a raw and very upfront song, maybe a little bit too much so.

I love this song, one of my favourite Jewel songs. I liked it the instant I heard it and it is such a beautiful heart felt song.
Obviously a song about escaping and becoming who you really are in spite of what people wish you to be. Meet and seek your dreams in life not the expectations of those around you. I also love the lyrics and the way Jewel sings the 'It was only a reflection' line. |

I think the album version is better than the single, I can't really remember what the difference is but I really saw how good this song was when I heard it on the album. It is a beautiful song, very relaxing and the video is good to.
From what I understand it is about spending time with someone else and then seeing how it all just goes so quickly. My translation isn't very good so I may be wrong. I think it may also be how one person enjoyed the time spent and the other one wanted away from it. Can anyone help with a accurate translation? |

Really like this song, although I think this song draws them the comparisons with Evanescence, even the video is a bit samey to 'Bring me to life'. Not necesarily a bad thing, but I think WT have a lot more to offer with songs like Memories, Jillian etc. and people should hear songs like Ice Queen and mother earth before drawing comparisons.
The video is really great though, although I always find the end when you see them in the boat to bit funny. |

I think the greatest songs are the ones that can make you feel many different emotions when listening to it. This is one such song, it compromises bitterness, anger, sorrow and can create a strong willing to try and make something better of ourselves. Definitley the best song off the 'This way' album, gets better with every listen. Still not sure which I prefer, the studio version or the live one. |

One Saturday morning many moons ago I was watching the much missed chart show on ITV (in the UK) when they did the top 10 Rock chart run down and played a minute or so of this song. It was the first time I had ever heard something this loud and heavy, not soon after I had bought a copy of the single, then the album and have since been a Heavy Rock/Metal music fan. Cheers Sepultura and the Chart Show!

Does anyone else ever find that the line "tie yourself to the mast my friend and the storm will end" reminds them of Leuitenant (sp?) Dan in the film Forrest Gump and the scene where he sits at the top of the mast shouting and shaking his fist in anger at the storm. But also shouting in anger at his misfortune in life to God. Then the following day there is the line "I think he made his peace with god".
Its a slightly different take on it but still serves as to the idea that you need to face the storm, face the difficulties in life head on and while it is hard to do the aftermath will be worth it, you will move on. |

This was one of the first songs I heard from The Once album but it took me awhile to really get into it and enjoy it. It is certainly quite a heavy Nightwish song but the guitar riffs are excellent, the 'chugging' guitar really gives a sense of power. I think it is that power that symbolises the feelings in this songs, wanting to break free, feeling lost in where you currently are (a relationship) and the anger that you are here wishing to be somewhere else where you can be free to be who you should be. |
