Josh Joplin Group – Camera One Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think that the character in the first verse may in fact be committing suicide. The line "Hung his clothes on the shower rod / But he didn't get undressed" seems to suggest that Sandy Haired Son has hanged himself in the bathroom. The song is about people completely resigned to thier own situations. People who feel small when really, they're still the most important thing. |
Trembling Blue Stars – Letter Never Sent Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Sadly, Trembling Blue Stars are on the outrageously small British label Shinkansen Recordings. You can find a tiny little bit about them here: http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~shink/tbsbio.htm |
The Prom – Room With White Walls Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Jenn Crosbie – To All Those I Hate Lyrics | 21 years ago |
a b b a c c a d d a e e a f f a g g original rhyme scheme there...and of course, by original, I mean tedious and lacking any sense of meter. |
Elliott Smith – St. Ides Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I love this song. It captures the feeling of a drunken stupor when you're cornered like a dog in a cage so well. Exquisite! |
New Found Glory – Ballad For The Lost Romantics Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of NFG, but I also would like to make the statement that to change one's sound drasticly does not neccessarily mean to sell-out. For instance, between "We have the facts and we're voting yes" and "The Photo Album" Death Cab for Cutie's sound goes through a drastic underscoring. The Melodies become secondary to the lyrics, and, in a sense, the entire feel of the music changes. They didn't sell out, they progressed onwards as artists. It's also important to not that most of the bands who become "major sucesses" have to sell-out to do it. The vast majority of the genre of pop-punk is full of sell-outs, even Alkaline Trio's last album seemed to move closer to the likes of Dashboard and Saves the Day. It's a simple rule of economics, art doesn't sell. Generally the bigger a band is, the less they're saying. |
Jenn Crosbie – Blue Haired Boy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
As a poet, these lyrics are appalling. |
Jenn Crosbie – Sit Down Alecia Lyrics | 21 years ago |
wow, that song absolutely blows. |
The Good Life – I Am an Island Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song sounds like a theme for me... I love these guys, man...I love em *sniff* |
The Get Up Kids – All That I Know Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This new disc was a huge disappointment. It's so corporate and clean. This song is just another example of a good punk band gone very very bad...oh well. First Alkaline Trio, now the Get Up Kids. I still have Jawbreaker. Least they had the decencey to breakup before releasing crappy albums like this one. |
Oasis – (As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I believe it's "bag o' bones" in the first verse. So... And trying to keep that bag of bones in trim |
Neutral Milk Hotel – Little Birds Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Deep man. |
David Wilcox – Jamie's Secret Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I lost a friend to suicide earlier this year. This song reminds me of hope and just hits that feeling so well. Know you're well Mike. Cry everytime I hear it. |
Elliott Smith – I Figured You Out Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Rufus Wainwright's got nothing on this guy. Smith is the man, and continues to be, and his version of this song is absolutely wonderful. I love it. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Steadier Footing Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I've been there. Who hasn't? |
Death Cab for Cutie – I Was a Kaleidoscope Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song just kicks so much ass. There's no other way of putting it. The tunes upbeat, and the musics happy, even as the lyrics and imagery get progressively sadder and more bleak. This sort of song writing is exactly what popular music is missing... |
Death Cab for Cutie – The Face That Launched 1000 Shits (Revolutionary Hydra cover) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I have to say, that the lyrics above appear to be corrcet. I mailed the fellahs at Death Cab and they're in agreement with those ones. See they're e-mal at the site http://www.deathcab.addr.com |
