I agree with gravity defiany that it's definitely about people who never live for the present or future but swell on the past. Like people who think they are above everyone else in real life becausethey were "homecoming king" in high school. Awesome song, hooray for massachusetts. |

The first time i heard this song was at their concert last november (the concert's how i really got into them) and it was the one that really stuck in my mind. I think its talking about how people move too quickly though life, friendships and relationships and that they should stick around and be something more than just a "passerby" to people.

first off, i'm in love with the guitar in this song. =) i think its about a guy saying to this girl he meets basiacally "you're awesome, if you saw me in a crowd of people (her friends?) would you talk to me? because i would be proud to talk to you" thats just what i think about it..

this is probably my favorite dispatch song, although i love them all. I think its about freedom in general and getting away from what people are telling you what to do, think etc. I think the "i'm in the open catching all the leaves" line means that he is free from whatever is holding him down, and it almost has a sense of innocense to it..? and, "we all see what we want" means that he is just saying screw it to what other people are telling him to see and he's doing what he wants insted.. just my thoughts on it =)

I agree completely about the innocence metaphor. It deals with the fact that when you get older the real world just comes at you so fast and so strong that alot of times you just feel like you can't handle it and you wish you could go back to the days of carelessness

I think Peaceofmind has it right on.. not everything in life is based on religion when it's written, actually alot of things aren't. The interpretation is completely up to the reader/listener.. I don't personally see a religios image in here as I do one of telling people to live life to the fullest and not to try to be older than you are. I think we can all agree on one thing though, this is a great song.
