Just to let you know, homosexuality couldn't possibly be the next step in human evolution. Why? Because evolutionary process is the passing on of genes to offspring. Thus, you need two things:
1. Prove that homosexuality is genetic. This hasn't been proven yet. What I think about it doesn't matter here.
2. The ability for homosexuals to pass their genes on. Currently, a homosexual (or anyone, for that matter) can only pass their genes on by reproducing with the opposite sex. Since homosexuality by definition makes such a union quite rare, such offspring will be very rare, and therefore its contribution to the evolution of the species is *extremely* minute (think an atom in a particle of dust lying on a pebble in an infinite beach).
That was off-topic, but I felt a strange desire to point it out.
Anyways, I have some advice for everyone arguing about Maynard's beliefs, Christians and non-Christians alike:
Who the hell really cares?
If you believe an ounce of the messages in APC and Tool's songs, you'll know that you should come up with your beliefs yourself. It's hypocritical to be a fan of APC and Tool's message and then attempt to mirror someone else's beleifs.
Lastly, I'd like to point this out. Whenever someone references "Jesus", "God", "Jesus Christ", et al, they could very well be making a statement not about God/Christ himself, but rather about his followers and his church. For example, Tool's song Eulogy seems to condemn Christians rather than Jesus himself. And by "Christians", I mean the ones who like to judge and force their morals on others.

East West rocks! They're my favorite band I would say, and this is my favorite song. This song, by the way, is a metaphor. The singer is God, and "she" is God's people. Which makes since, because Revelation refers to the Church as Christ's bride several times. Anyways, it's just what God is saying to His people: You're forgiven, stop worrying about stuff and just come with Me. Great song. |

So if you have some, post them, otherwise save the time of yourself and others and move on. Half of you probably couldn't write half as well as whoever it is who writes these songs, and I seriously doubt many of you are as instrumentally or musically talented. If you are, start a band. But for the love of civility, don't use up bandwidth trashing on bands. |

As far as I can tell, this song is about struggling with doubt about Jesus. Every Christian has done it, and doubt is not labeled in the Bible as sin. Even Jesus doubted, because he was fully human as well as fully God. He was, however, sinless. Doubt doesn't become sin until it's acted upon. Anyway, that's my two cents on the song. |

2...Who else would write a song like this? Well, how about any old Zelda fan that happens to be in a band? Not too unlikely. The singer sounds a lot like Serj, but the rest is way way way different. The drummer's style is way different particularly. Need I give examples? Give this poor band, Rabbit Joint, a break and give them credit for their work. Plus, System of a Down themselves said they didn't do the song. Proof enough? Or do you need them to knock on your door personally and let you know? |

Ah, they also dedicated this song to one of the band member's brothers who recently died...The lead singer's brother, I believe. It was originally for Lynn Strait, but they played it again as a tribute to the brother at one of their concerts just after finding out he died. I love this song so much, it's awesome. |

Just like to point out...Nobody forced anything on anyone. Jimmy just offered a link. For crap's sake, it wasn't even a link. If you wanted to even see it, you'd have to either type it manually or copy it. That's far from being forced. And to say someone is closed-minded because they follow a certain religeon without even considering the merits is close-mindedness in one of its peaks. And if you look at it this way, someone witnesses to you because they give a crap about you. Whether you believe the same thing or not, you should be honored that he would invite you to it. You don't get that kind of courtesy often, and when you do, you curse the bearer of a gift. That's right. Whether you accept it or not, to him it's a gift.
By the way, the time period you refer to was the Middle Ages, not the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages was the time of the Roman Empire and before that, before there even was Christianity. The name has nothing to do with the quality of life during the time period. Go ahead and research that if you want to consider it part of your apparently vast repertory of knowledge. |
