David Bowie – Let's Dance Lyrics

There is a cover of this song by M. Ward, which is fantastic. It accentuates the sadness of it. I love the original, but the cover is definately something worth listening to. |

Joanna Newsom – Peach, Plum, Pear Lyrics

I am fairly certain that she says "bolt like a horse", and that would seem to make the most sense, in keeping with other lyrics.
I think this song is speaking about things not turning out like the narrotor thought they would. she meets this person in the store, and she's maybe a bit naive and expected something more like a fairy tale, but it doesn't pan out that way. He/She ends up "knocking her down" and she ends up with a different story than she expected (she rides it now - it carries/controls her, as opposed to before when she carried/controled/wrote the story). |

The Smiths – Still Ill Lyrics

first off it's so important to note the lyrics vs. the music. music is so peppy, lyrics so sad. i love the irony, very clever (much like reel around the fountain, sad music, shallow lyrics). the past is gone and he can't get it back, and not only sad about it but i think a little pissed as well. |

Sarah Harmer – Uniform Grey Lyrics

i think that she means to imply that the weather or sky is a uniform grey... in the rainy town..
where her friend lives, the friend that dissapoints her. but it's okay, he's been through a lot. |

Sarah Harmer – Basement Apartment Lyrics
|
it's not really about her apartment, the apartment isn't all that important. it's about being older, out on your own, in the real world and that point where you realise what you wanted isn't at all what you have. the heights that you were so sure you'd acheive haven't been. instead you slide below street level. and you have no idea how to fix it or change it. instead you stay where you are with aching lungs and holes in bottles. |

The Walkmen – We've Been Had Lyrics

i think this song is taking pot shots at the indie garage rock type bands that now popular, like the hives and the strokes and the white stripes and so on. the bands with the 'retro image' and 'dumb haircits from 1960' |

Stina Nordenstam – So This Is Goodbye Lyrics

especially good, and poignant song. one that i know i can relate to. makes me feel a little better to know that someone else is feeling the pain i do.
stina is fantastic and, i think, under-appreciated.
