|Sleeping At Last – Saturn Lyrics||2 months ago|
"You taught me the courage of stars, before you left.
How light carries on endlessly, even after death."
-He's carrying on after some kind of separation and he resembles his resilience to the star that ever after its death, matters.
"With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite."
-The infinite is the known and the unknown which sums up the universe as a whole. Here, he's expressing the extraordinary love that he used to have for the person who left him, where their "shortness of breath" meaning their mere existence, has made sense of everything, hence the infinite.
"How rare and beautiful it is to even exist."
This accounts for more than being alive. It stands for existentialism where their choices have led him to the point of deterioration or agony (death of stars) and back to himself (light of stars). He is one of the people who believes that existing isn't to be taken for granted and it's not common with respect to the universe. And for this, he is thankful and proud to have made it through.
"I couldn't help but ask you to say it once again.
I tried to write it down, but I could never find a pen.
I'd give anything to hear you say it one more time,
that the universe was made just to be seen by my eyes."
-Personally, this is my favourite part.
He is desperate for the time where his lover used to make him feel so valuable and worthy. He wanted to remember these memories forever "tried to write it down" but he was too consumed with the moment that he couldn't "could never find a pen". So now he's holding on to a mere memory of tenderness that he wants to feel again.
"With shortness of breath, I'LL explain the infinite."
-He changes the phrase from "you explained the infinite" to "i"ll explain the infinite". This holds a powerful promise to himself. He noticed his value and worth and now he believes that he's enough and he will be loved again like he used to love, the extraordinary love, where someone will look at him and everything will fall into place and make sense to them.
"How rare and beautiful it TRULY is that we exist."
-He used this line before where he was broken, But, in the end, after he found himself again, he used it for reassurance that our choices are the building blocks of our life. And we must not base our life on people, a person is complete with or without another. Knowing and valuing your existence gets you past obstacles.
