Sugar Ray – Every Morning Lyrics | 2 years ago |
The gist of my interpretation is this: The girlriend keeps cheating on the guy, she keeps seducing him and he can\'t make a move of dumping her.\n\nA halo is hanging in the morning: She put the halo off overnight meaning she did something naughy, cheating\n\nIf I can use it for a one night stand: he\'s thinking of cheating on her, thinking of considering other girls. (Thid one is kinda weak)\n\nCouldn\'t understand how to work it out, left my broken heart open, and you ripped it out: he knows she\'s cheating on him but he doesn\'t know how to confront her.\n\nSomething\'s got me reeling stopped me from believing:\nHe\'s no longer believing she\'s innocent\n\nTurn me around again: and then she turns him around, meaning she seduces him.\n\nRight after: Said that we could do it, You know I wanna do it again:\nShe seduces him. Let him have sex with her. She knows that\'s what he wants/like. \n\nClose the door don\'t say a word: The dream like chorus makes it look like shes enchanting him. Have sex with him, you know you like it, just don\'t say anything. He\'s struggling to resist her seduction and can\'t confront her.\n\nShe always rights the wrongs for me: she\'s always able to "make it right for him". He knows she cheats and in the end she always gives him what he wants so again he doesn\'t want to confront her. |
Disturbed – Prayer Lyrics | 4 years ago |
Ok, so here's my interpretation. The song name is Prayer thus must relate with praying and with god. Looking at the verses, it only states a bunch of misfortunes: "Another dream that will never come true", "Another life that I've taken from you". Those are clearly from god. Now, the chorus is not from God. It's the response from whoever God was speaking to. Let's call him man. Here are my thoughts: "Living is not hard enough" and "take everything away" parts are sarcasm. You keep throwing misfortunes at me while my life is already hard enough. Sarcasm: "My life is not hard enough, keep going..." About "Let me enlighten you, this is the way I pray", I think it's from the Man who responds to god in objection. Like "Let me tell you what I think about you now". Lastly, the part "Return to me" and "leave me no one", "Cast aside". "Return to me" is the Man who was praying to god, but kept getting denied "Leave me no one", "Cast aside". This led the Man to turn away from god "You've made me turn away". It's your fault. As a final note, since the singer is only one person, the verse are not really God speaking but instead how the Man views god. Like "you stole someone from me", "Another nightmare is about to come true", etc. but speak to it as if God does that voluntarily which shows how much he lost faith already. Like the only thing god bring is misfortune. |
Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 4 years ago |
I spent the last night trying to figure out the meaning of the song while reading the comments. There is A LOT of good interpretation, but even if it seems to perfect make sense, there is this one or two verse that makes you wonder "but why does he say that here then?" Also, it's fine to find meaning for each individual verse but every verse the the flow of the lyrics has to make sense in the big picture. Here are the cool interpretations I've read: - The song makes it It's about a homosexual man who tries to seduce an heterosexual. What works: - Watching from the closet - Want to be the friction in your jeans (it makes even more sense than if it was a girl I have to admit!) - Sleeping for the wrong team (wrong sex) What doesn't make sense: - I'm a notch in your bedpost (so they already are having an adventure?) - I wish I'd be HIM (if he was into men, he would wish to be HER). - We're going down in an earlier round (again sounds like they are already in relationship, which doesn't make sense with "I want to seduce an heterosexual). A guy is jealous, wants the girl and the girl doesn't care: Makes sense: - I'm a notch in your bedpost (you don't care) - I wish I'd be him. (I want the relationship) - Watching from the closet (I secretly want you) - I want to be the friction in your jeans. (I want you) - I want to tell you exactly what you want to hear (I would do everything you want) - I'll be your number one with a bullet (I'll be the one you choose) Doesn't make sense: - We're going down (it's as if they are already in a relationship which doesn't make sense with "the girl doesn't care" part.) - We're sleeping for the wrong team (he's secretly jealous but meanwhile he is with another girl? Nahhhh) It's about someone who caught his girlfriend cheating: Makes sense: - We're going down (we're done) - We're going down swinging (we're done, I'm pissed and it's gonna be ugly) - I'll be your number 1 with a bullet (someone said it came from a movie with Jon Cusack when he mentions the worst breakup he had. Number 1 with a bullet means it's gonna be your worst breakup) - Watching from the closet (I caught you) Doesn't make sense: - I wish I'd be him (at this point it would not make sense, he's pissed and while being in the closet sounds too much like he secretly which he's be him. - Chorus, WE'RE sleeping for the wrong team (they are BOTH sleeping for the wrong team. It doesn't make sense with the "one person cheated interpretation"). Now, here's my interpretation. I think what still makes the most sense is the jealousy theory. Here's the twist: They both CONSENSUALLY sleep with each other. For a long time, a girl cheats on her boyfriend with the singer and the singer wanted an actual relationship with her. She never leaves her boyfriend and the singer starts to realize that, despite liking being with her, he's wasting time with her and they should stop. Now: First stranza: It's mostly about him wanting a better relationship with her, it's it's not happening. - Am I more than you bargained for yet? (Am I yet enough for you to dump him?) - I've been dying to tell you anything (I love you) - Lie in the grass next to the mausoleum (when you're back with him, my relationship status is DEAD. I just sit here waiting, alone). - I'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in the song: -----okay, EVERYBODY see this as "You don't care? Well, I don't care either!!!". Like, "You're just one line in the song, you're insignificant". Seems a bit childish. Let's see it with a brand new angle! -----When you mention a girl in a song, does it mean she's insignificant even if it's just one line? No way! It means you gotta love her or you're thinking a lot about her. -----See it this way: "While you're not really thinking about me, I am writing songs for you". - We're always sleeping for the wrong team (he realizes that they can't keep doing that. It doesn't mean the girl should stop being with her boyfriend, it's the other way around. The singer and girl shouldn't sleep TOGETHER. Singer shouldn't sleep with the girl because it's a dead end, and the girl shouldn't sleep with the singer because she wants to keep her relationship with the cuckhold. - We're going down (This story is a dead end and, sooner or later, it will not end well hence "we're going down") - We're going down in an earlier round (it's gonna be a surprise, they won't see it coming, and it's probably the boyfriend who will end up knowing the truth). - We're going down swinging (am I the only one who interpret "swinging" like "while having sex?" It may not just be explicitly "he's gonna catch us sleeping together". It can sound like "if we keep swinging, it eventually not end well". - I'll be your number one with a bullet (okay, this one doesn't fit much. I wonder if we can interpret it as "I'll be the number one reason of your breakup"). - A loaded God complex. Cock it and pull it. ---okay again, everybody looked at the definition and used it by the book. Let's remember that the song is written with a lot of metaphors. ---I think God complex here is not the actual disorder, it's way more minor than that. Think of God complex as the feeling that you are invincible ("infaillible" is in the definition"). Nothing's wrong, nothing's ever gonna go wrong. ---Think about a moment when you drive on the road at 120 mph with traffic and you think you're such a good driver you'll never get into an accident. Even if it's extremelly dangerous, you don't see the danger because the accident will never happen. ---Finally, this loaded God complex is the girl thinking the boyfriend will never find out. Cock it and pull it means get rid of your god complex. Second Stanza interpretation: it comes after the chorus where he already realized it's not gonna work. Think of this stanza with the view that he is now completely consious what they're doing is useless and wrong. - Is it more than you bargained for yet (slightly different. Listen to that twist: "Am I more than you bargained for" was about him. "Is it more than you bargained for" is about the SITUATION. It's kinda like saying: "Hey, are you done? Aren't you tired of it?" "Do you actually keep thinking everything is fine the way it is?") - Don't mind me, I'm watching you two from the closet --- Don't mind me (sarcastic way of saying "oh, don't mind me, I am JUST someone you cheat your boyfriend with) --- I'm watching from the closet. (Now, instead of thinking it's "I'm secretely jealous", it can be "I am HIDDEN in your BEDROOM". Think about it this way: You stay with your boyfriend while I hide in the closet and when he's gone, I come out and sleep with you. - Wishing to be the friction in your jeans. Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him? (I wanted and still want a relationship while you still have a boyfriend. Don't you understand how this situation is NOT OKAY). |
