Thin Lizzy – Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed Lyrics | 4 years ago |
@[MrWillow:32990] Yes, it is about Jimmy the Weed, a famous Manchester mobster and Johnny the Fox, the head of the Chicago mob in the USA. About Johnny Torrio (also called as Johnny the Fox because he was so sly) it was noted that he might have been the most brilliant mastermind in the whole American mob scene. Not in morals but in talent. |
Corrosion Of Conformity – Mano De Mono Lyrics | 4 years ago |
The title means monkey hand in Spanish, the song is an acoustic instrumental |
Great White – Old Rose Motel Lyrics | 4 years ago |
I think this might be about someone craving for drugs (Needle Street ain't no answer, Let the need be your master) but is told by his/her partner not to give in to the temptation. Can't find no heaven in hell Chasin' demons at a crawl All are possible lines about the white powder and its effects. |
Van Der Graaf Generator – Killer Lyrics | 4 years ago |
@[daisukeman:30842] Your interpretation is the best, since some of the lyrics are about sea and living underneath the sea level. Clearly it's about whales, or at least a passing nod to them. |
Morgana Lefay – Why? Lyrics | 4 years ago |
This is about the death of an unborn child, I read somewhere that it was a personal experience or someone close to the band. |
Aerosmith – Uncle Salty Lyrics | 4 years ago |
@[Shep420:30563] Uncle was her tutor until she started menstruating (until she bleeds) and that's when more or less girls come of age |
Venom – Red Light Fever Lyrics | 4 years ago |
In my opinion some of the worst Venom songs, definitely the weakest on the first 2 total classic Venom LPs. It's about going to the whorehouse and the refrain is the utterly complex: "bitch". It talks about the late night pleasures, about sucking and penetration. Not very plastic and at a certain point the lyrics say: " I tell you babe I'm never satisfied, ain't gonna die for those tears you cried," Is this rape? He rapes the whore? Nice, what can I say... Sure not a Venom classic, this one. |
Carcass – 316L Grade Surgical Steel Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Also the "Exile on maim street" lyric is a briliant word play on Rolling Stones' classic Exile on Main Street album and the process of maiming someone (by hurting him / his heart) |
Krux – Lunochod Lyrics | 5 years ago |
This is about the space race between Russia and the USA. |
Queensrÿche – Jet City Woman Lyrics | 5 years ago |
@[omiya_alien:29851] Mostly you are right, this song is exactly about Geoff's wife. |
Uriah Heep – All My Life Lyrics | 5 years ago |
@[RainbowDemon:29679] Even more, I think he falls in love with a whore ("her red light on"). "I only took one, because I couldn't take two' - and he is a hedonist. "I never ever thought I was looking for a wife" - in whorehouses you usually don't look for wives. |
Andromeda – This Fragile Surface Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Final part of the trilogy from the end of the album. The main character gets his image right and learns to control himself, but knows that the equilibrium is fragile (as the title of the song suggests) and peace of mind is never full. |
Andromeda – One In My Head Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Second part of the trilogy from the end of the album. In this part the fear starts evolving into madness and self-destruction. |
Andromeda – Parasite Lyrics | 5 years ago |
First part of the trilogy of the last 3 songs on the album. I think the parasite is the fear itself, a negative thought that's creeping into the mind of the narrator. |
Andromeda – Castaway Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Pretty obvious - the perspective of someone exiled on a desert island. It's not clear if it was forced or self-punishment. He still hopes for a turnaround in fortunes |
Andromeda – Morphing into Nothing [Instrumental] Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Great rhythm-based instrumental, it's like a drum solo with guitar, keys and bass as the other layers, but avoiding showing off. |
Andromeda – Two Is One Lyrics | 5 years ago |
This one is about the sum being more than the parts put together, especially when it's about a distance (phone-based?) relationship. |
Andromeda – Encyclopedia Lyrics | 5 years ago |
I think this one is about the accumulated knowledge of mankind which is getting bigger every day, but many ground-breaking ideas are undervalued in their time and will be discovered later when appreciation is futile ("Encyclopedia of all the things you've done / Expect the media to bother when you're gone"). In a more particular way this can be about someone how is passionate about creation ("Turning the page, write to cease new ideas / Thoughts - all duly recorded") and is also very accurate about what he is creating. Also, nobody really understands among the posteriority ("Now he will never know / Swept away by the undertow") |
Falconer – For Life And Liberty Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Men are chasing a deer ("The four hooves echo in the night. / Pictures of deepest fear reflect in your eyes," - this is why I don't think it's a horse) in the woods ("Inside the forest oh so deep, / The creatures of the night watch intensively / This hunt that flashes them by.") and by the dawn they catch it ("As the welkin embraces his stars / To a shimmering nightly play, / The arch-enemy of man / Is once more prey") |
Monster Magnet – Cyclops Revolution Lyrics | 5 years ago |
@[dusgistad:29545] Isn't this about someone who crashes his car into a tree, and the one who was riding with him (or someone he hit - "Cut off your legs, for you are too slow") dies, while the driver stones himself to unconsciousness (mountain of pills). |
Scorpions – The Riot of Your Time Lyrics | 5 years ago |
This song is about the death of Elvis Presley (it's in '77) and how the king of rock 'n' roll role is being passed on and on to the next starman who will possess it for a couple of years and himself will give the throne away to the next superstar. In a way it's a very interesting prophecy about '94-'95 too as it was when another king dead (Kurt Cobain). Lyrically might be the best song on the album |
Saint Vitus – White Stallions Lyrics | 5 years ago |
I am pretty sure this song is about drug abuse and how drug abuse ruined his life and will never let him go. "Wish that I could start again And change my evil ways Trapped upon the stallion's back 'till my dying days " "White stallions in my vein" "tiny hoofprints on my arm" - pretty obvious, but very nice metaphors The white powder consumed feel like stallions on a stampede in his vein. Pretty much self-explanatory, I think. |
