@[DanFan1625:29265] I've often wondered how he would have heard about a homeless drug addict dying, unless as others mentioned, maybe they were school mates many many years before and another old schoolmates informed him about Charlie Freak passing away. Then again that wouldn't make sense as he heard his death almost immediately as he went to the morgue to find a DOA tag on his arm so he had to have gotten wind of this within 24 hours. |

@[michael3301972:29264] Also when he says, "Yes Jack I gave it back" I take that as the narrator is having a conversation with someone who is giving him a hard time and making him feel like crap for taking a homeless man's only valued possession for chicken feed. I also don't think Jack is actually anyone's name in the song, as it was slang in the 70's to call anyone "jack" as what we would say hey man or hey dude today. |

@[michael3301972:29263] Interesting theory, but why would you be calling heroin "weed"? Has anyone ever overdosed on weed? Didn't think so. Also why Fagan says, "Yes, Jack I gave it back" Why would he be talking to the addict as he is already dead. Your theory is interesting but not plausible. |

@[ElSlappo:29260] Not sure about the rest lof the song but the way Fagan emphasizes the phrase, "can't come" I also think he is referring to inability to "perform" and I'm sure he meant the word come spelled with 3 letters if you get my drift. The scene is just like the viagra commercials or pre-viagra with the woman all frustrated and sitting in bed alone because the guy can't perform. I've always thought this and I'd be surprised if that wasn't the meaning. |
